Posted - 15 Feb 2010 : 13:29:28 I have been looking into this artifacts history for purely historical reasons, but havent been able to find out who has it or where it rests in the years just before the spell plague! Since I dont give a... something something for 4.ed; im only interested in 3.0/3.5 ed info about the Sword!
Thx

Posted - 05 Mar 2010 : 06:17:04 Right. It doesn't make an appearance in the Last Mythal trilogy, not even, iirc, in the wrapping-it-all-up-years-later epilogue. Which doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't found and returned at some point either during the War or afterward. But it's just flat-out not dealt with, so it's up to every DM to decide where it is and what it's been doing.
In my campaign it was captured by the drow again (agents of house Dhuurniv looking to redeem their house) and has been rotting in a Maerimdyra vault ever since then. But that was partly because my players got captured by the drow of Maerimydra and I wanted to give them a chance to escape. So I had one of them be the slave-of-the-day holding the matron's robes as the drow tried to claim the Artblade yet again, giving them the chance to seize the Artblade and escape. Which they did, and then they wandered around the Moonsea area for a few years wielding it. As soon as they heard about the Crusade, they went to help out, and to return the blade to the city.
So, really, where it is and what it's been doing is up to you. It's wherever you need it to be. |

Posted - 04 Mar 2010 : 23:23:43 Summary of known details: It disappeared with Josidiah Starym in a blast of magical energy that levelled the School of Wizardry and slew a bunch of yugoloths and other baddies, not to be seen since. Speculation (from sources whose names elude me) ranges from "destroyed" to "Arvandor" to "in a pocket dimension somewhere, either frozen in time or with Josidiah's thousand-year-old bones (and probably his spirit, in some form ranging from baelnorn to ghost to spectre). Anything more than speculation is probably going to hit a big wall of NDA that has a few smears of my brain matter on it thanks to my past questioning. |

As well as Cormanthyr and Fall of Myth Drannor also.

Posted - 15 Feb 2010 : 13:48:51 As far as I know, the Artblade is still missing after the fall of Myth Drannor. The Crownblade and Warblade (MINE) have been brought to light through novels and adventures, but there's not official information on the Artblade's location. |
