Posted - 20 Jul 2009 : 19:57:28 Is there going to be a scroll for this author? Or one for her book "City of the Dead"?
I realize some authors don't want to have a scroll or can't keep up with one, so if that is the case where would be the best spot to chat about this GREAT novel? |

Posted - 13 Jan 2012 : 05:12:26 I really wish I had a chance to read this. But I'm still having no success purchasing US-produced e-books for Kindle via Amazon.
Not sure what I can do at this point. While I applaud Wizards' decision to shift to e-book format, I'm frustrated by the fact that the distribution is limited, apparently, to only the North American region.
As it stands now, my time with Realms novels may be over -- and through no choice of my own -- at least until Amazon start making these books available for purchase by those readers outside the United States. |

Posted - 13 Jan 2012 : 03:47:10 I added this over in the QUESTIONS, but thought I'd visit the Scroll too. COLD STEEL & SECRETS is a four-parter e-book. Why that format? Because that's what they asked me to write. It all wraps up this month. I'm also giving away the equivalent of a bookplate for the Kindle version. More here: http://rosemaryjones.blogspot.com/2011/12/yes-we-have-technology-to-sign-your-e.html
I'm also very, very happy to say that it looks like FORESHADOWS will finally be published. Fingers crossed, but you should see this fabulous collection of cyberpunk awesomeness from several Realms artists and writers -- with a CD soundtrack! -- in 2012. Keep watching my blog and I promise to post as soon as it ships. |

Posted - 24 Jul 2009 : 05:11:34 As always, you're welcome Rosemary.
And I'll note that I'm actually quite eager to read City of Dead, as 'tis the setting for one of my favourite sections of Waterdeep. I just need to read Downshadow first. |

Posted - 24 Jul 2009 : 04:52:34 Dear Sage: Thank you, thank you, thank you for your work.
Now, everyone else, go post those questions or our poor Sage will feel like he did all those scrolls this for nothing.

...
On the subject of scrolls for Realms designers/authors...
Are there any other designers/authors who scribes feel are still deserving a scroll for their own questions here at Candlekeep? |

Indeed.
As for my reward, perhaps you could encourage the Lady K to work speedily through the last remaining chapters of Downshadow. I know she's only reading a page a day now, just to frustrate me further.
I'd commend her, myself. Not for taking so long on a book, but for frustrating you with it. |

And just as an aside, I found this whole series of books to be a fantastic intro to post-spellplague FR.
This is an interesting and cool point here, with which I tend to agree.
I think the Eddie Presents series makes a very good entry point into the 4e FR, sort of the way Sembia made a good gateway to 3e.
I'm really looking forward to books 5 and 6!

Posted - 20 Jul 2009 : 20:51:38 Well good...then lets have a meeting of the minds (or mice).
I wanted to know if the Carver family, the un-protected gate, and the tunnel system under the city were all cannon?
I would assume that at least some of it was from Miss Jones's head, but it would be entertaining to find out that the caretakers were mentioned elsewhere.
And just as an aside, I found this whole series of books to be a fantastic intro to post-spellplague FR. I heard a lot of complaints that the spellscared and spellplague references were over done in these books. But I found that to not be true. Every time it was mentioned it was a plot enhancement or pivotal to a characters background. The amount was never overwhelming and I think was handled quite well by all involved. |

Posted - 20 Jul 2009 : 20:40:19 I seem to think Sage was meaning to set one up . . . he's just been really busy recently. A request like this may well prompt his sagely hand, though . . .
Cheers
P.S. And on that note, the cat's away--you know what that means. [squeak squeak]
