I'm having a bit of a problem while working on returned Abeir.

Rimlost appears in the Gontal artical as a fortress on the 'rim' of a water-filled crater on the edge of the 'lost lands' that belonged to a primordial.

Seems reasonable enough, but the RA map shows it in the far north on the cost.

Always deferring to text, I placed in on the crater lake as its supposed to be, and all was right in the world (you can view that HERE.)

Just one problem... now that I'm doing the North and reading the entry for Fimbrul, Rimlost is also listed for that locale!

Without going into a negative tirade here, I decided that the Gontal one was correct. There is bit of a problem with the usual rules for such things - normally newer lore trumps older lore, and that Gontal artical was released first, meaning the FRCG should take precendence over it, buuuuut... that artical was really a Web-Enhancement that was only presented as a preview (since they couldn't fit it into the FRCG). Now, WE's usually are released after, and since that was written after the FRCG had already been finalized and gone off to the printer, the artical should be considered the correct version.

Only the FRCG did indeed come out after.

So now I'm falling back on common sense - the name itself sounds far more like the location in the Gonatal artical then it does in the Fimbrul entry (which has nothing to do with any sort of 'rim').

I have placed a secondary locale on the map in Rimlost's original position, since there is lore about the place (a cult to the Primordials). I have even written a little something about the new name to make it all fit together (I call it Grimroost, to keep it very similar and hence the confusion), and will release that along side the Returned Abeir Map once it is complete.

Now that my long-winded explanation is done, here is my question (finally) -

Is there an update to either of these locales that anyone knows of?
I would ask over at WotC, but I got banned the last time I used the word 'Errata'. However, the conversation that lead to that banning was about that they had revised some stuff between the FRCG and the FRPG, updating some of the innacurate information. I do not own the second book (not needing any 4e mechanics), so I don't know if there is official lore that supercedes mine.

Does anyone have that tome, or can tell me if they know of any official erratta for the two locales?

Well... ummm... errrr...

Here's the thing.

I like what I wrote, and as long as no official source has corrected it yet, then I am very happy with that. However, if anything official does come out about it, then I will change the map.

However, I'm not exactly wanting to do that.

I wrote a little sumthin-sumthin about the Grimwings, strange creatures resembling flying goblins or even Imps, but they have wings in lieu of arms (I'm using the Byakhee pic from 1e D&D {Cthulhu Mythos} as visual reference). The Grimwings live in caves in the massive clifface that encircles all of the northern coast, and were fond of lairing in that ancient tower before the cult took it over (hence the name "Grimroost").

I have more, but thats the gist of it.

-Why that sounds like a great Idea BR.J!

I would go straight to the source and ask Ed in his scroll. He is the creator of Gontal afterall.

Based on what I saw, there's nothing in the Player's Guide, MT.

The Campaign Guide has the map and entry on p209, and the article in e-Dragon 366 mentions it on the crater. I don't know enough about 4E to know if Rimlost in the Campaign Guide map is on the crater lake or not....
