Do the people of Chessenta speak Chessentan? What is their language, where are its roots, and etc.? As much detailed information as possible would be appreciated!

Tom Costa had some interesting thoughts on the "accent" of the Chessan language family here.

The official stance is that newer lore trumps older lore.

I'd say the second one is more official. Not only does it trump the other in terms of when it was written, but according to the first one it states "in favour of the Common tongue of the west". At the time, they didn't develop multiple languages in Faerun. The Common tongue could've been anything.

The second one merely expands upon the first and I see no contradictions.

Found it in Old Empires, p.64 :
quote:
Chessentans once spoke Untheric, but abandoned that language 200 years ago for the common tongue of the west (using a variation on Untheric writing in their written records, though they have reduced the runes to an alphabetical writing scheme). Untheric is often known as a second language, if only to understand ancient writing.

On an other hand, the 3EFRCS quotes the Chessentan as the official language of Chessenta.

Indeed, I found sources saying that Chessentan language does exist !
But I'm still looking for data about it !
