I've copied this post (in part) from Brian Cortijo's (Garen Thal's) new "Questions" scroll in the Chamber of the Sages. I instigated the creation of said scroll out of a desire to know more about Cormyr, an awareness of Brian's familiarity with the subject matter, and a desire to reduce Ed's case load (primarily the last; you're welcome, Ed).

<chop>My second question is regarding the Obarskyr lineage. We have the royal line detailed now thanks to the insert in the GHotR (thanks to Brian James and all who contributed dynastic lineage information to that project, including, I assume, yourself, Ed, and George Krashos). How developed is the extended family tree, and is there a chance of it (or parts of it) being made public? We know most of the royal spouses, but it would be nice to have more meat on the bones of the ancestry of the Royal Houses (the Silvers) in particular. I'm hoping that the 4e time-jump has made some of this information more accessible. (He says, perhaps a touch too optimistically.)
Scribes may have noticed mentions of the Royal Lineage of Cormyr in threads throughout Candlekeep over the years (and on the Realms-L, when it was more active, too). This is a real, complete file that discusses of all the crowned heads of Cormyr, some important non-ruling royals (spouses, siblings, etc.) and an overall arc of the Forest Kingdom. It does explain the Silver houses and their relationship to the Obarskyrs, and quite a few other lingering secrets for Cormyr--and, of course, creates quite a few more, if anyone takes the time to go through it carefully. I've been the "keeper" of it for the last few years, making updates as additional canon lore is released, correcting inconsistencies, and adding detail as necessary.

The Lineage was started by Ed Greenwood and Grant Christie back in God-knows-when, and was passed along to me a while back, whereupon I assumed my duites as Keeper of the Blood Royal. I've done quite a bit of work on it since then, with advice, guidance, and contributions from both Ed and George Krashos. The Lineage is where George pulled the dynastic progression, to go with his fabulous grouping of royals for GHotR.

Because of the way the Royal Lineage has been constructed, I can't, on my own, publish, release, or distribute it, even a portion. It's up to WotC to determine the future of the Lineage. To answer your question directly: yes, there is a chance of it being made more public, if WotC is convinced that this is something folks want to see.

I'd like to create a poll on this matter, preferably on this shelf unless the mods decide that there's a better place to put it (and no smart responses to that one, please)... but I have no idea how to go about doing so. Here's the poll question as I see it:

Do you want more lore regarding the Obarskyr family lineage?
a) Bring it on! There's no such thing as too much lore!
b) Sure; it would be interesting.
c) Whatever.
d) Nah. There's too much lore as it is.
e) Are you kidding? Secrets/NDAs are meant to be kept!

(The mods may want to rephrase or remove the last option there in creating the poll, but I like it.)

Go right ahead.

Uzzy, can I quote you in my mission to remove archaic NDAs?

Its not like we need additional lore to argue against their retcons... the standard stuff is plenty in that regard. The idea is that being nice to us for a change might go a long way to appeasing a lot of pre-4e fans, and releasing old lore currently under NDA would be awfully gosh-darned nice of them.

My thoughts exactly. Now, how do we get them to listen to us? I don't think Brian James' "what do you want?" scroll is the right place, because that's supposed to be strictly post-$mellplague.

I like that... the trouble is, proving one's divine status.

Well, its all about faith. One cannot merely go around proving such things.

Well, you and I know that, but Wizbro will want evidence before they turn over their precious unrevealed lore. Remember: Lore that isn't made public is lore that can't be used to argue against their retcons.

Okay... poll creation in progress... hang on for a few.

Edit: Poll's up, and has been for about an hour; I got sidetracked by a lore search and didn't update this. Please Vote!

e) The sacred compact which is the NDA should ne'er be compromised, for likely it doth hold unknowable secrets which could drive mere mortals mad. As I am no mere mortal, however, I expect all such information to be rendered unto my person with all due haste.

Just kiddin'. F***in' A!!
