Posted - 17 Oct 2008 : 06:04:47 So... can anybody clarify for me if the Seldarine are still around and going strong in 4e? Any of them die? Any of them get demoted to Fry Cook at the local bar like most of the rest of the gods did? What's up with the Seldarine... and for that matter, if any non-drow dark elves are still alive, are they still under Larethian's protection? |

So...does this mean that Lolth was really an early incarnation of Shar and THAT is why the Drow are so powerful?
-In the period of time leading up to the launch of the new setting, this was indeed a "conspiracy theory" that had a lot of support, chiefly because of the Sehanine Moonbow/Selūne rollover. But, no, Lolth remains her own entity, independent of Shar.
Only til 5E when they declare that there are still too many gods confusing their target audience. |

LOL...it wouldn't surprise me right now...although I sure hope not. Sarcasm just had to be vented there is all...really...
(speaking to WotC): Nothing to see here...move along please...
Nah, I think at this point you will find Ao floating in the skies above Toril...Abeir...Abeir-Toril...whatever---and he will say,"Guess what!? These deities were all MY ASPECTS! Hah hah! Joke's on you!"
I don't mind a deity going by different aliases and portfolios in different regions or cultures, but to constantly pool deities into each other is getting ridiculous now. Eventually it seems they'll all pool into one deity...hence Ao. LOL |

That's too much detail for 4E Realms newbs to the game, they shortened it to just "Elf Gods" I think, because the modern gamer can't handle too much details, consistency, and continuity in a game, it seems. Actually, I think they're just "Eladrin Gods", because Eladrin is cooler to say than Elf, despite the genocide of an entire race of celestials given in order to allow that.
Seldarin's too complex to even say, come on now.
That's what happens when you try to make a PnP RPG compatible with the "e-raised" generation: ADHD? WoW! (And yes, I used the "OD" smiley deliberately to maximize the punnery.) |

Posted - 18 Oct 2008 : 04:37:36 Corellon Larethian Deep Shashelas Erevan Fenmarel( yeah okay he is still around, my bad) shevaresh solornar Angharradh Labelos thats the selarine.
Sehanine revealed selune whats her name revealed akadi hanili revealed sune rilifane gone or is silvanus.
sfdragon's version of the Seldarine:
Corellon Larethian Sehanine Moonbow Labelos Deep Shashelas Erevan Fenmarel shevaresh solornar
as a moon elf i never bought the angarradh myth, and in 4e with whats her name being a version of akadi, which herself is a primordial really makes no since.

Posted - 17 Oct 2008 : 21:00:46 Call me a cynic, but I get the feeling that when they did the 4th edition realms they didn't have anyone who could take a look and say "hold on, this doesn't make any sense. Maybe we should rewrite it so that it doesn't come across as completely mad when compared to the background lore". Such as this whole gods being aspects of other gods, or the whole Tyr/Helm/Tymora fiasco. I'm not a uber-meister when it comes to the divinities, but my reaction when hearing about Helm's death and the circumstances surrounding it was: HUH? It felt as crazy as if I had just read that Fzoul had decided to leave the Zhentarim and move to Neverwinter in order to start a fashionable clothes boutique. |

Same here!
Hanali was Sune, Aerdrie Faenya was Akadi, and Sehanine was Selune? How does that last even make sense? I seem to recall some logical problems with it, not least of which her joining with Hanali and Aerdrie to form Angharradh...
It seems the corporate guys up top are applying the George Lucas style of rewriting the canon for their own selfish gains, while simultaneously creating logic inconsistencies that could easily collapse under their own weight into black holes. |

Lone wolf? Do you mean Fenmaril Mestarine?
Ps. I find the notion of gods that have been around since 1th edition suddenly "revealed" as aspects of other gods monumentally stupid.
