Posted - 22 Jan 2008 : 23:20:28 Has there been anything written or shown about the layout and general appearance of Aencar's Manor? All I remember reading about it is it is still used as the meeting place for festivals and for Shieldmeet; it is haunted by Aencar, his slayer, and a veritable army of undead and monsters; and that the Cult of the Dragon has its local Dalelands stronghold in the basement and related Underdark tunnels, where they venerate the Sacred One Antharikkan the Pale (an albino black dracolich).
If nothing else, I'd like some idea as to how big the place is. I get the idea it's a rather sprawling place, though not as large as, say, Myth Drannor or Tethyamar.
Any help will be vastly appreciated. |

FRS1 The Dalelands is a terrible reference that was produced during the nadir of the Realms IMHO when all refs were dumbed down & decreased in content in proportion to the increase in font size & margin! (The same time produced Cormyr and slightly less-worse Moonsea and Vilhon reach references). You'll be disappointed by the reference, but the few $$ for the .pdf makes anything good value.
The snippets you recall sound like a refernec form the 2e Cult of the Dragon ref which I don't have with me, but may pay to check.

Posted - 24 Jan 2008 : 03:40:16 Ardashir, this is definitely something I'd ask Ed in his Questions thread. It will probably take him forever (okay, years) to unearth maps and so on, but to get you that approximate size, number of buildings, etc. overview, I'll bet if you ask just for that, he'll prolly provide a pretty quick reply. A week, maybe? Oh, well. If I'm wrong about how quick because Ed's snowed under again (heh: when isn't he?), THO will slap me down. But then at least you'll know THAT. Just my two coppers. BB |

There was going to be a 3e update for the Manor, as Eytan Bernstein, from Dragons of Faerūn tells us -
"I was actually considering writing up Aencar's Manor for DoF instead of Karthaut, but space just didn't permit it."
Which is a shame, because it's really a place I'd love to see detailed more.
Thanks for the response! I guess I'll have to track down The Dalelands then.
And I'm sorry to hear that the worthy Mister Bernstein didn't get to write up the Manor. I'd at least like to know how many buildings there are & how many floors the main one has... |
