Do Illithids have the ability to communicate with the other races?

Check out this site: System Reference Document v3.5. There you will find lots of info about special abilities but also an other things that are rules related, e.g. spells, feats, skills, ect. Unfortunatelly it does not explain telepathy, as I just found out myself. Well, I found the info none the less, in the Monster Manual I on p. 136 does.
Telepathy (Su): Mind Flayers can communicate telepathically with any creature within 100 feet that has a language.
Telepathy is not a real language but more a transmitting of thoughts. Therefore communication is not bound by a specific language. As long as the creature communicated with knows a word for the thought transmitted, communication can be achieved. Kind of like that, I imagine...
Edit note: Tt is diffenent than an empathic link, as a sorcerer has with his familiar for example. With such a link only feeligs can be shared but real communication is not possible. Telepathy is far more complex, thus allowing complex conversations to take place as long as the creature conversed with speaks at least any single one language.
