Hi, I need some help with installing my NWN game. I would post this on the Official Bioware forums but every time I try to register my CD-Key for my Platinum version it says "Cannot register CD-Key as entered".

Okay, so I go to install my NWN game. First, I put the disk in (duh), then the AutoPlay pops up and I hit install.

But instead of taking me to the install screen, it says "Would you like to remove NWN from your computer?"

At first I thought I needed to do this before I could do a fresh install again but that wasn't the case. It says this every single time.

I even tried Exploring the D drive and clicking Setup and it takes me to the same screen.

Can anyone help.

Check in my programs for a neverwinter or nwn or atari folder and delete the neverwinter folder. You most likely lose the save games unless you backed them up.

It wont get rid the registry problem, but worth a try.

Neverwinter technical forums is probably your best bet now.

Yeah, maybe a problem with the registry. But I really don't want to mess with it. So perhaps one of my fellow scribes knows a bit about such things and can help me not screw it up too bad.

Ah.... hmm dunno then. Maybe try opening the files on the CD and see if you can find the installation.exe file? I dunno.... Might be able to manually install if you find that file.

Or as Wooly said, there's a registry issue....

Yeah, I've done that. Several times actually. Really odd as it's never done this before.

No, what me and Wooly have asked is this. Have you done what NwN's is asking you to do because you said in your first post, "But instead of taking me to the install screen, it says "Would you like to remove NWN from your computer?""

So, have you done the NwN install from your computer option that it's asked you to do?

Me neither, prefer not to poke around the registry either. So I don't know.

I've tried Add/Remove programs if that's what you mean and it's not there.
Kuje Posted - 21 Jan 2007 : 19:34:32
Did you run the remove program option as Wooly asked?

Otherwise, I have no idea why that would keep doing that then....

Then either get a registry cleaner or poke around in the registry yourself. The latter option isn't recommended unless you know what you're doing.

Aye,

I agree, it sounds like there's NwN's files still on your puter and so it's asking if you want to remove them. Let the program remove them and then try to install.....

I assume you've checked Add/Remove Programs to make sure it's not showing up there?

Have you actually allowed it to do the Remove that it offers to do?

Assuming it's not in Add/Remove Programs, and you have allowed it to remove, then it sounds like the uninstall may have left something behind in the registry. You might be able to search the registry and remove any left-behind entries, but that won't work if they did the normal trick of listing stuff by random alphanumerics. In that case, a registry cleaner might be in order.

Be advised that messing around in the registry is a good way to hose up a computer, though. I once goofed on a computer at work, and I had to wipe it out and start reinstalling stuff from scratch.
