Well, after looking at the new Waterdeep book and being disappointed that there was no fold out big map, I recalled this old software I have.... Yep, the good Waterdeep maps are in there. I am still amazed at how much they crammed into the Atlas. The level of zoom detail is adequate for table top mini use, I swear!

Anyway, I downloaded the #3 update thinking it was the whole enchilada, and now I read in some old posts I should download all three and in order. So I will uninstall and start over. No biggee, since I am lucky enough to have a fast hookup.

Bottom Line: Thanks to Candlekeep.com for your endless store of knowledge. You helped me remember the old CDrom and pointed me to the patches and gave me some help without even knowing it or intending to do so.

If any of you have learned of new quirks of issues about the Atlas, and feel like posting, please do so. I always accept help from the helpful.

One day, perhaps, I will persuade my game group to give up on my homebrew campaign and move to the FR.....

Yeah, I started bidding on a copy on E-bay, but had to leave off when it started climbing way beyond my budget. I check in from time to time hoping that I can bid my budget and everyone else will fall through the cracks, but no luck yet!

You can always find it at gaming conventions as well. It is a highly sough after piece of software, as was mentioned above, so no matter where you find it, it will be at a premium. At least on eBay you have a small chance of winning it at a lower price than buying out right.

Any suggestions?

It's been out of production for 10 years or so... I see copies pop up on eBay periodically, but if you got that route, expect to pay thru the nose for it. There's a lot of people that want that software.

Try dragontrove.com as well. I recall seeing a copy there a few weeks back.

Yep, the City System has great maps in it... the problem is finding a large enough wall / floor to place them all on (and in my case keeping my cats off them too!).

Try Ebay or other internet stores

Well, my globe still doesn't work. no big deal since I usually use the go to parent map function and zoom in from the new parent map.

I did get a splash screen with some advice on using the book marks to look through the update 2 list of maps.

I guess this is as good as it needs to get. After all it's an old application with little support anymore. I'm prety sure it will still suit my needs.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this.

There is an option under one of the menu drop-downs to Re-Index the Maps. It will go and figure out what maps are in the map directory. It will *also* associate the proper files to the globe, which will allow the globe to function properly (I had a problem of the globe always crashing after I replaced Aru map from Update #3 with the properly working Aru map from Update #2 when I forgot to reindex.)

Couple of lessons learned:

1. Install the main software and updates #1 and #2.
2. Make a backup of all of your maps in a separate directory.
3. Install update #3.
4. If you find that a map no longer is displayed, copy from the backup to your map folder and then reindex the map.

I speak from personal experience - the map of Aru (in Kara-Tur) becomes broken after the installation of update #3 because the updated map of Aru is only 44kb in size and has no drawing objects in it. I don't know if there are other maps that are damaged by update #3. If you don't re-index the map when after copying from the backup to the map folder, the globe will not work and possibly the links in the atlas view may not work.

Well Met, Wooly Rupert. I am honored that you would save your 5000th post for me.
Such a warm sentiment for a newcomer like myself makes feel doubly welcome.

Third post, and I'm rolling along. I wasn't logged in last time I tried this post. I think...

Well, can anyone tell me why my maps have no text labels on them?
I have set the layers to show all and I've searched for text with the user friendly button. I search for the letter E since it is about the most common and the box pops up with anything using that letter. However, when I try to display the text, all I see is the arrow pointing to the Right Place on the map, and no text on the map.
Puzzling.

By the way, I patched the map up with all three updates. Any suggestions??

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Ah, the Interactive Atlas. I lucked into that one, and got it brand new from TSR/WotC for half-price -- they were dumping them after it went OOP.

I believe it's the City System boxed set that has the largest maps of Waterdeep -- 10 poster maps!

Edit: Ooh, my 5000th post!
