I just got Throne of Bhaal the other day, and I went into Watcher's Keep on a save on Shadows of Amn I had started fairly recently. I was surprised at how easy it was, until I had to fight that Chromatic Demon guy. Can anyone tell me how to fight him?

Also, I picked up one of the new Flail of Ages heads (poison) and I don't know how to put it together (I went back to the forge in Nalia's keep and talked to Cromwell in the Docks). Do I have to wait and do it in the Throne of Bhaal map, or is there something to do in Amn?

That flail with the 5 heads is one of the best weapons in the game....it should be statted up to 3.5

Be sure to cast Lower Resistance on the Dragon, too (it's a 5th level mage spell).

That's a tough fight. I won through casting 'Remove Fear', 'Haste' and 'Chaotic Commands' on all my warriors. I'd also advise that you use some Giant Strength potions on them, too. It took me about a dozen tries to beat the dragon.

I tried out the cheats one time- I never finished the game quicker- and with that amount of xp points (they were near the top levels of their class) It was a lot of fun to use +5 weapons on bad guys at the start of the game

I've beaten SoA 4 times and ToB 3 times already without cheats, okay? Give me a break already! I'm just fooling around right now.

Using the debug (aka Cheat) mode. I will fetch the link to an online doc containing how to use it exactly, as well as a link to a character editor.

I do suggesty beatign the game thoroughly without it at least once first though, as once it is turned on, it is a hard tempation to resist(like spawning i na pair of cheetah boots jsut ot get everyone not mving like slugs).

Though, some of my greatest fun in the game has been modifying certain characters, like my Cavalier Minsc, and wild mage edwin.

EDIT:

How did you spawn him in?
DDH_101 Posted - 25 Oct 2004 : 22:37:32
I can't find him either. I spent like 20 mins looking for him yesterday.
Capn Charlie Posted - 25 Oct 2004 : 11:16:27
In my version of the game he was not there... and I had to spawn him in. So that might be your issue as well. If you don't find him, browse the overridde for the exact name of his character(joluv-something).

I like the Copper Cornet- got good rewards for quests there

Cool- thanks for that DDH_101
Ryss Firemaster Posted - 24 Oct 2004 : 22:52:46
His clothes look like a noblemans and he is wearing grey shirt with blue trousers. He's standing just to the left of table filled with meat and buzzing flies, just a few steps away from where Yoshimo stands when he is in the Coronet.
DDH_101 Posted - 24 Oct 2004 : 22:41:30
Copper Cornet? Are you sure, I've never even seen such a person. How does he look like?
Ryss Firemaster Posted - 24 Oct 2004 : 21:45:53
Hey, I know this one!

The other merchant is in the Copper Coronet, at the fireplace. His name is Joluv and he sells Items from Icewind Dale, whereas Dierdre sells stuff from Planescape:Torment.

All of it is very expensive but if you've got the gold, then there is some useful wares.
DDH_101 Posted - 24 Oct 2004 : 01:39:51
Vecna's Robe is from Deidre, a merchant at the Adventurer's Mart. You can only get her if you download the ToB patch. Funny thing is that this merchant was supposed to be with ONLY the Collector's Edition but now you can get her and a bunch of other stuff for free with the patch.

BTW, does anyone know where the other merchant is? I remember the patch description saying that it included two merchants and a bunch of new items.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 24 Oct 2004 : 01:02:42
sounds good

where abouts can you get it? from a store or do you find it on adventure?
Ryss Firemaster Posted - 23 Oct 2004 : 15:18:23
Congratulations on your triumph.

I too used Dragon's Breath a lot in "Throne." I liked it's effect a lot for some reason...
DDH_101 Posted - 23 Oct 2004 : 05:47:24
Best spell ever! It's a 9th level spell that causes a red dragon's head to materialize. The head then breathes out fire and basically burns your enemy to death. Then the ones who don't die have to make a save or else get knocked down and unconscious. Best of all, this really powerful "fireball" doesn't harm your own party members so it's best to throw it right into the middle of the melee battles. I have Nalia and Edwin cast one each on the same spot and ends up killing all the enemies. It was this spell that helped me defeat Demogorgon. I don't think I've ever seen a defensive spell able to block the effects of this spell. I remember I killed that demi-lich in Watcher's Keep with just "Dragon's Breath".

If you want to make it even better, go get Vecna's Robe from Adventurer's Mart and it improves your casting speed, allowing you to cast those 9th level spells quicker in battle.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 23 Oct 2004 : 02:47:14
I never had Edwin in my party- his whining got on my nerves (I ended up cursing him out of complete irratation)

I never used that spell- what does it do?
DDH_101 Posted - 22 Oct 2004 : 17:13:12
Hmm... played it again and beat it really easily. Just basically casted protection spells on my party and then have Edwin cast "Dragon's Breath". That spell is so useful... nothing can be protected from it.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 22 Oct 2004 : 08:48:42
& area of effect potions
Like the Potion that's fire & then explodes when it touches the ground- that's always useful

I did sleep. Whatever, I'll just use up my wands. They're just wasting space in my character's bags.

I beat it once before, but it was like a total fluke. I do have like stockpiles of healing potions. ABout 100 extra healing potions and like 50 superior healing potions.

Aleta_Delryn, you can't sleep when you get to the Throne of Bhaal. That's the big problem, no rest.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 19 Oct 2004 : 11:46:47
I've killed Amelyssan.

What you do is just before you cut off the pool of souls you recast protection & heal all characters- you go through a lot of spells- you can also sleep (for my game it made no difference, but that may change) so I'd recommend having whole containers of healing potions. Also memorising as many offencive spells & having back-up scrolls is also a big help. & you also know that once you get Amelyssan down on health she'll go back to regenerate & stuff right? Well before you go off & kill the bad guys guarding the pools- heal a little & camp your characters on one side of the pool & have 2-3 heavily armed & plated fighters go up & start killing things.

I also had a little trick for when I was low on spells & potions- once you kill off the guards at the first pool, before turning off the pool, I had everyone equipted with Missile Weapons & fire at a few monsters in the 2nd & 3rd pool- made it a lot easier when my spells were running low.
Ryss Firemaster Posted - 19 Oct 2004 : 08:01:15
If you haven't done so before, I suggest memorizing Limited Wish, so you can ask for some of mages spells back, without resting.

Not all of them, but every little bit helps.

Other than that I can only advise to try not to use every resource you have, until they are really neccessary.
