Hey all

For those who might be interested, GOG.com now has almost all of the Infinity Engine games available for download.

Baldur's Gate (including Tales of the Sword Coast)

Icewind Dale Complete (includes Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster expansions)

Icewind Dale II (plus Adventure pack)

Planescape Torment

We're all still waiting for Baldur's Gate II to hit (and it likely will be out quite soon).

GOG.com also has Nevewinter Nights 1 Diamond Edition available as well.

Best part of GOG is, for those who don't know, is that the games are completely DRM free! No CD check, no license keys, no online activation, nothing. Install it where you like, as many times as you like. Re-download it if you need to at any time. All for $10.

I believe you should be able to, as what you download is a large, self-contained installer. I have not tried it though so it's possible there's a problem I don't know about.

I've a question for those more familiar with using GOG.com to download games.

I currently don't have a stable nor working internet connection for my PC. But I do run the internet off my Mac laptop. So could I possibly download any of the purchasable games to my Mac from the site and then transfer them to my PC via USB or zip-drive?

I have BG 2 from GOG and the only thing to worry about is modding it, one of the massive mod compilation programs(big world maybe?) doesn't work all that well with the GOG version without a little working around. Other than that it is excellent, all the usual mods work fine for me and it's great not worrying about my cds anymore.

I have BG and BG2 from Good Old Games, and they installed easily and play just fine on my Win7 machine.

Hey I recently stumbled on GOG and debated with getting several of the old d&d classics....along with the Origin Crusader series which was a personal favorite of mine.

I know they are all reasonably priced, around 5-10$, but I was wondering how hassle free are they? Has anyone actually purchased Icewind Dale or Baldurs Gate? Do they install and play pretty well?

Also I heard through the grapevine that the company CD Projeckt Red, the people behind the Witcher, has one of their companies working on enhanced versions of these titles possibly due out this summer.

I really like it. The story isn't as strong as BG or IWD, but that's more to do with the original Pen and Paper module it's based on. Once you update it with all the patches+ extras it's a really cool game.

I've never played ToEE. How is it? How does it compare to the BG or IWD games?

Remember the games are DRM-free, fully legit, and that means once you buy them, you can download them to your PC (coming w/the manuals in PDF format, of course), even multiple PC's, and even give'em to your friends!

Did you really just (as in two years ago) encourage illegal distribution of copyrighted material on this site?
Tamsar Posted - 23 Apr 2012 : 22:58:58
Not sure if you know about this website http://www.co8.org/forum/ but it has plenty of mods/patches etc for ToEE, makes for much fun and goodness.

I just wish I was more capable with computers.

I've always wanted to "re-work" some of these games and make my own campaign setting adventures to host.

I'll settle for playing through the Temple of Elemental Evil again!

OP- Thanks for sharing this awesome link. I downloaded Betrayal at Krondor and is runs sooooo smoothly on my computer at home, unlike the CD-Rom re-release that i could never get to work. This game is probably one of my all time favs from back in the day. Thanks!

Great link! I am going to download Betrayal at Krondor tonight!

I've observed that all the bugs which broke Planescape: Torment last decade have now been fixed, plus the higher resolution mods and a hefty amount of restored content combine to make the game something of a completely new experience. Two things I utterly detest more than anything else in any game: forced low resolution (field of view) and forced slow movement/animation/travel speeds ... fixed now.

I started PST up again, though it might be a while before I finish. The game contains about 800,000 words of scripted dialogue (Tolkien's entire Lord of the Rings trilogy has less than 500,000 words). And I just don't seem to ever have the same spare time (or monitor-staring endurance) that I used to the first time this game came around.

Nice, too bad I already bought ToEE and Planescape earlier, and have copies of all the others, including about 2 and a half incomplete copies of Baldur's Gate 2 due to CD damage in moves that add up to one full copy. Still, if anyone is missing any of these games I can't recommend them all enough, even Elemental Evil and the Icewind Dale games are well worth playing, if not quite as great as Planescape or the Baldur's Gate games.

Bump!

Juss thought it well to tell folk here that the BG series (BG1 + TotSC and BG2:SoA + ToB), NWN1 + SoU + HotU, Planescape: Torment, and the IWD games (IWD1 + both expansions and IWD2 + expansions) on gog.com are all $6.99 (instead of $9.99, so 30% off) for the next 5-6 days. And Temple of Elemental Evil is like $4.19 as well in this time, for those who like that popular Greyhawk game.

Remember the games are DRM-free, fully legit, and that means once you buy them, you can download them to your PC (coming w/the manuals in PDF format, of course), even multiple PC's, and even give'em to your friends!

And its the same price no matter where you are in the world. It's the same price as listed whether you're in Canada, USA, Asia, Europe, etc.

The oldest versions of these games can be a little bit cranky on modern hardware (although they generally work well enough to play without sound/mouse, at worst); the few that I've played have patches and updates to fix most common issues. I suppose the re-releases based on new software engines don't have such problems.

Sweet! Both the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale games were favourites of mine. However, i am having trouble running Icewind dale II on Windows 7. Anyone else had this problem while running the old games?

Aye! For those of you who don't have this game already, please do yourselves a favor and go get it! $9.99 for BG2: SoA *AND* ToB! And the game came out 10yrs ago, so it should work on most computers (unlike NWN2).

Christmas is right around the corner, and this would make a great gift to anyone of any age. Either let'em d/l it from your gog.com account, or d/l yourself and put it w/another gift of a DVD or USB device carrying the game or something like that! Edit: Get folk this game as an early Christmas present, cuz its a long game!

I'm like so happy for the world, that this game (plus the ToB expansion w/it!) is available for such a nice price! It's like the world is already becoming a better place, now that this game is on gog.com!

They seem to, if you have them or download them. The thread here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/neverwinter_nights_diamond/kingmaker seems to have links to download the Premium modules.

Nice. I knew about Planescape, didn't realize they got the others (BTW, I also noticed Temple of Elemental Evil there too).

Oh, here's a link to the Atari RPGs (yes, they're labelled Atari, not Bioware)
