As I play more and more tabletop, I see how dependent our games have become on the travel and schedules of the players, and I find myself remembering (quite wistfully) the old Realms MUD I used to play. One of the great things was that you could always play, no matter what time of day/night. Is anyone still MUDding on a Realms canon-ish MUD? The one I used to play has clearly gone under.

If not, any coders out there interested in creating one?

I always felt that MUD's captured the 'imagination' aspect of tabletop in ways graphical MMO's and the like never could.
