I'm interested in reading novels set in Waterdeep and Environs to help me get a better feel for the area previous to launching a campaign.

I've read Blackstaff, am reading City of Splendors. I read Waterdeep years ago, so I might re-read that. Elfshadow is largely set there I believe.

Any others?

Eric included a fairly comprehensive list of everything Waterdeep about two years ago in a Dragon article that accompanied the release of the City of Splendors 3E book and Greenwood/Cunningham novel.

That said, there are a tremendous number of short stories, probably almost one in every anthology, a few that appeared on the WotC book section website, and several more that appeared in various issues of Dragon (mostly by Greenwood or Cunningham).

But basically, as pointed out there is Waterdeep, The Song & Swords series by Cunningham, and City of Splendors for major novels. Waterdeep plays a small role in the Return of Shade series and the apocryphal Double Diamond saga as well.

Don't forget Dream Spheres and Thornhold.
