I'm just curious if I'm alone in thinking that these novels were spectacular reads. As far as I can recall off the top of my head, this was the only trilogy to deal with Faerun's past. All the others are on a forward-moving timeline with occasional glimpses into history afforded by works such as EVERMEET, CORMYR, and STAR OF CURSRAH.
I for one loved the Nethril 3 and would love more works offering a glimpse into the storied past of the Forgotten Realms. |

I agree with Jorkens, I too bought Book 1 upon its release only to wait forever for book 2 and by the time I had book 2 in my hands, I could barely recall anything from book 1. Overall, I didnt really like the Trilogy :( |

I should probably read this series.... if only for its netherese subject matter.

Being a history buff I loved this trilogy and am constantly wishing that they would delve more into FR's past. I would love to read books from the Crown Wars era or even as far back during the time of the Creator Races. |

I read the first of the Netheril books when it came out but didnt see the others for years and by then I had lost interest. I remember thinking the book was OK, but not good enough that I want to read the others this many years later. Come to think of it I seem to remember having lent the book away and not bothered to get it back.
I liked the historic books like Cormyr and Evermeet, but something about the Arcane Age products did not sitt right with me. |

Not the best of trilogies. it almost seemed as if they were going somewhere, with an arcane age series, but it kind of flopped  Being FR though, I read them , and then placed them on the old book shelves, for overall collection purposes only. |

I didn't think the books were bad, but I didn't think they were great, either... They aren't in my "never read again" category, but they're not good enough to make my "will happily read again, as time permits" category, either.
The one thing I really didn't like was his elven lover being reincarnated, and him meeting her again. We don't really have any other cases of non-magical reincarnation in the Realms (especially with elves), and meeting her again after he got pushed forward in time was just a bit too pat for my liking. |

I feel pretty stupid having not thought about the Elminster books while composing my previous post. Sorry to all. I've read them and loved them and I apoligize for ommitting them. Gods I feel stupid right now. |
