Posted - 12 Oct 2006 : 00:58:22 I would love to see another section on candlekeep devoted to other series forgotten realms authors have written for, like Troy Denning and Darksun. Sorry if this isn't the right place for this. Also, how is candlekeep able to stay active without any advertising on the site? |

Posted - 12 Oct 2006 : 02:33:11 There is a Worlds of D&D site that, I believe, encourages discussion of all the different D&D universes. |

Posted - 12 Oct 2006 : 02:10:31 This site is supported by miracles granted by Tymora (supposedly Ao). Alaundo I think felt uncomfortable sharing that with us in another thread about maybe adding a chatroom... which leads me to believe that it is a personal expense of his and maybe a few others. Either way there is a link to paypal/donations somewhere on this site so by all means- chip in!
oh and shopuldnt this thread be under the candlekeep site content forum |

Honestly. i play in a thrash metal band, but i get misty eyed thinking about darksun. Does wizards own the rights to darksun?
The rights for DS are, as I recall, in the "we're not completely sure but we think so category." That's mostly because of sites like athas.org, the official DS site, working on their own 3e DS update and having some degree of freedom with what material they can use and what's not allowed.
I suggest you try athas.org in order to learn more about the current state of WotC's hold of the DS rights.

That's unlikely to happen.
Candlekeep's purpose is to provide a site for "Forgotten Realms Lore." Unless non-FR lore relates to the Realms in some way, shape or form, obviously I speaking more here about the days of 1e and 2e FR when the Realms had a closer connection with other published TSR settings than it does today, discussion of such non-FR aspects is usually avoided. This is because it tends to take particular scrolls off-topic.
Having said that, you are able to ask existing authors who visit Candlekeep... questions regarding their "other" non-FR works, so long as they do not become long drawn out discussions that may result in cluttering an author's scroll with non-FR chat. For example, I have, in the past, asked Steven Schend and Thomas Reid about their works in the Star*Drive setting. However, I made it clear from the beginning that any lengthy discussions would be better off taken to PMs, in order to keep the FR scroll for these authors, free of chatter that other scribes may not have any interest in since it did not relate to FR.

Posted - 12 Oct 2006 : 01:06:46 I doubt it will happen, at least for the works of other settings since this is a FR board and Alaundo wants to stick to FR material or lore that is related to FR, in the case of spelljammer or the planes.
Troy, we've been told, really doesn't visit this message board either. |
