I will be starting a Moonsea campaign this month using the new supplement. I have never read any novels involving the Moonsea though. I would like to do so to get a better feel for the region.

Please lemme know of any that fit the bill, thank you.

All editions in fact... I still refer to the "Moonsea" section in the 2e FR boxed set on occasion.

The first two novels in the The Year of Rogue Dragons-trilogy has quite a lot of its action take place in, on, and below the Moonsea.

Well that was quick; happy reading.

PS. If you are going to run a campaign in the Moonsea it may not be a bad idea to see if you can find some of the old 2ed. game supplements; the rules may have changed, but the lore is as good as the day it was written. None of them are necessary, but you might find some good ideas.

The first three Pools of novels take place there. :) The fourth one ties in with the 3e module and Dragon article and so it takes place in Myth Drannor.

Pool of Radiance by James M. Ward and Jane Cooper Hong
Pool of Darkness by James M. Ward and Anne K. Brown
Pool of Twilight by James M. Ward and Anne K. Brown

Well there are several novels that at least partly take place in the Moonsea area, but these are often mainly set in other parts like the Dalelands.

Of the top of my head I can name Spellfire, The Crown of Fire and the Prince of Lies for Zenthil Keep, gives you a good idea of the Zentharim. The Mage in the Iron mask is not among my favorite realms-novels, but it takes place in Hillsfar. Soldiers of Ice is more of a wilderness novel with gnomes and gnolls and is set in the lands north of the Moonsea, but it could give you an idea of the wilder areas.

There are probably others that other scribes can mention. I'm not sure if any of these are exactly what your looking for as it is really more a glimpse of the area and a look at certain characters.

I hope this helps.
