Posted - 01 Dec 2005 : 01:38:14 Sorry, I meant reprint of the Songs & Swords edition (assuming that it is out of print), not re-release. |

Posted - 30 Nov 2005 : 21:00:20 The comment someone quoted about a "collection of my stories" did indeed refer to an anthology of short stories. I have no knowledge of plans to re-release the Songs & Swords series, nor am I aware of Thornhold being out of print. For all I know, it's still available; however, if you have problems finding a copy, send me an email at elainecunningham@cox.net. I have copies of both the Harper #19 first edition and the Songs & Songs #4 reprint. |

Posted - 27 Nov 2005 : 14:51:02 You mean becuase he has a hot woman on the cover that isn't wearing bondage attire, spiky living bio armor, or in a blindfold? |

Posted - 27 Nov 2005 : 13:35:56 I rather like Brom's cover for Thornhold. And it's not exactly his usual style. |

Posted - 27 Nov 2005 : 11:42:38 I'd like to see new cover art too, as long as I think none of them make justice to the novel itself... ok maybe Elfshadow... |

But considering that they just rerealeased the Moonshaes novels and the Twilight Giants novels, and not long ago they rereleased all of the Avatar books again adding Prince of Lies and Crucible, it seems like they would indeed rerelease the series.
Well met
I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Songs and Swords rereleased. This would be their third rerelease, bearing in mind that the first four books were originally within the Harpers series. I'd also expect new cover art, despite a couple of the novels already having their second cover revamp |

Posted - 27 Nov 2005 : 02:06:41 Ah yes, but with the release of Songs & Swords VI (which she has written that she's been given the contract for), Wizards would be a bit silly not to have a few copies of the books preceeding it to ship out to stores. Or so I've been told at least. |

Posted - 27 Nov 2005 : 00:14:34 ^ That sounds to me as if they're releasing an anthology of some of her work and not rereleasing the entire series. |

There are no strange thoughts coming to your mind KnightErrant, I remember those words too.
quote:
I also learned that WotC plans to publish a reprint anthology of my Forgotten Realms stories, including those published in Dragon Magazine as well as those in the older anthologies. They'd like a new story to "anchor" the collection, and Peter Archer suggested a story that would wrap up some of the loose ends in Thornhold. Here's yet another opportunity I never expected, and I'm pretty tickled. I've always been slightly disgruntled by the circumstances surrounding this book. It was supposed to be a "pivot" novel that ended the Harper series, per se, but introduced shared-author characters (Bronwyn and Ebenezer) who would be present through several novels and game products that detailed the breakdown of the Harper organization, the Harper schism, and Khelben Arunsun's part in all of it. This plan was scrapped while I was writing the novel, but something dropped through the cracks and no one informed me. This left all those requested loose threads wafting in the breeze, and readers were extremely puzzled by the "ending." There are too many unresolved story threads to treat in a single, 10,000-word short story, but I can deal with a couple of them in the S&S #6 book.

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 06:19:46 Considering that Elaine has been given a contract for the sixth (and final) book in the Songs & Swords-series, I've a feeling that at least Thornhold will appear in print again, though. |

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 04:57:23 I'll try with amazon 2nd-hand sellers.. but not for xmas gifts ;)
Also I'm seriously divided in choosing books that I have read in the past(some in their horrible french version) but I don't own, or books that I never read..

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 04:33:04 There's always the possibility, but there is nothing definite set for the moment at WotC regarding the reprinting of the "Harpers" line of novels.
Alternatively, you could try looking at some of the 2nd-hand online booksellers. I've had some luck with various sites when trying to find moderately priced novels that are currently out-of-print. In fact, I just recently picked up an entire set of the novels for the Dark Sun setting from a second-hand online retailer for under $50 AUS.

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 03:51:55 No, I don't think they will reprint the Hapers but you can get it used on either amazon or ebay. Alot of my books are used because of being out of print. |
