These are two questions about the middle and the last chapter of Silverfall. That question necessarily contains a BIG SPOILER. READ NO FURTHER if you do not want to have the big reveal revealed here and now. You have been warned.
I was skimming this book last night and two questins came to mind. First, where in the book do the sisters dscuss the Heartsteel books before the reveal of the author's identity? I didn't see any earlier reference.
LAST WARNING BEFORE SPOILER!!!
Did Blackcloak go all the way over to Shar and become a "Shadow Adept," or was She just using some of his "moments" to manipulate his personalities? (I.e., did he abandon the Weave, which was why he was so hard to find?) The copy I am looking at ends abruptly at the bottom of page 376 ("tomorrow is going to be truly boring") and it looks as though a page or two may have been torn out. There's nothing wrong with that ending, and what was taken may have just been end papers, but if there's something substantive missing, I'd like to know.
Mercy buckets. |

Ed said this, and more, last June 14th.
"Shar CAN grant her followers corrupted versions of the same powers Mystra gives, but darkfire and the like are mere shadows of Mystra’s boons, not equivalents. So, there’s no “dark” version of spellfire or the silver fire, despite the claims of Shar or her clergy to the contrary, just inferior unleashings. I know Realms fans love to argue about the natures and powers of the gods, and I promise that in time to come more will be revealed that will surprise many -- but there’s no way I can or will say more, right now. Just remember: if I say it, it’s canon until contradicted in print by a later WotC official Realms publication. Call now, for trained operators are standing by. :}" |

Posted - 30 Oct 2005 : 23:29:08 I saw Shar using Halastar as a means to attain silver fire somehow. Halastar was the best "tool" for the job short of Shar taking avatar form and trying to get it herself, which to me seems like she'd be stepping over invisible lines doing that. Using Halastar allows her to work behind the scenes without stepping on too many toes, I guess. That's my take. |

Thanks. SO did Halaster go over to Shar or was she just manipulating him?
I believe she was manipulating him, wanting to take control of Undermountain.
Thanks, Wooly. That was my impression, but I wanted to be certain that I hadn't missed anything crucial. |
