Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 00:55:01 I was wondering if anyone wrote any fan-fiction? I've been reading the FR novels for about 5 years and have been writing my own for about 6 months.
Maybe I'll submit it to Wotc.

Posted - 08 Feb 2003 : 08:48:11 Yes, folks, now you know what my near-nightly chats on MSN-IM are like with this pair. It's exactly like that. Only more often. And louder. -_-; Seems that Elph was rejected by the sanatorium that Sadon applied her to, and she's been stuck with her ever since . . . . |

Posted - 06 Feb 2003 : 04:23:44 I`m working on one, I just got the idea from a silly little 4 colum manga I drew for fun. Charaters: Night/male drow, bard and loves to draw. dosen`t talk much about his past. Kirha/Half elf, thief and Nights best freind. she cares and worrys about Night and would like to know why he`s not very open to people. Scott/male fighter, humen. Kirha`s childhood freind. a very cheery man not much can get him down. Sage/male sage, humen. no one really knows his real name, Kirha tags him with the name Sage. Michel/male, palinden. Sage`s good freind. he`s the type of guy who cares deeply for his freinds and would like to keep them out of danger.
hehehe odd bunch I know but I thought it would be fun to write. heres what I have so far.
With his skillful hand he added the last flowing line. "Finshed." Looking down at the finshed drawing of the beautiful dancer he worked on for days getting just right. "Whats finshed?" A young half elven women asked from behind a map. "My drawing, Kirha." Kirha sat her map down and looked at the parchment sitting in front of her drow companion. "Wow it`s good. What`ch ya gonna name her?" "Freedom." he answered. Kirha looked at her compainion. "Night." Poor guy, she thought it must`ve been hard liven` in the Underdark. Night never talked much `bout it, don`t blame em though. I`ve heard lots of horrible things `bout that place.
It`s not finshed and hasn`t been looked over for grammer and spelling yet but hope you like. |

Posted - 06 Feb 2003 : 00:20:53 Bookwyrm: Okay thanks. I thought it was Arach-Tinilith...but I wasn't sure because I was getting it confused with Tier Breche. Lol. It's been a while since I've read the Dark Elf Trilogy.
Brudd: Your story sounds really cool from the characters so far. Are you going to post it somewhere (like Fanfiction.net) so people can read it? (sorry, that was kind of a stupid question ). |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 23:34:57 The main Character in my "Novel" is a human psion his friends are (1) a Dwarf Forgemaster with a Enchanted/possesed double-headed battleaxe
(2) A halfling jeweler/thief that is not very brave
(3) A pixie with an attitude that likes to get into trouble and gamble
(4) A human wizard who is magically strong but has no fieldwork
(5) a Githzerai monk
When done it should be very interesting, another couple of weeks to finish.

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 21:18:45 I have a friend who was writing a story about Kelnozz (the guy who conned Drizzt during his first practice battle at the Academy). I'll have to check and see whether he ever posted it at one of those sites... |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 08:35:02 I forgot to tell you, Sadon -- the school of the priestesses in Menzoberranzan is Arach-Tinilith; the whole school (Arach-Tinilith, Melee-Magthere, and Sorcere) is called Tier Breche. |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 07:00:57 Lol. Yeah...I've got a few other ones. They're not of that much importance since only one other one has a plot (a surface elf girl who meets Jander Sunstar...not really a FR more of a Ravenloft fanfic.... I'm going to try and post that one soon on FF.net...I just need to finish writing it).
I know it's not very long...it just felt like it was really long when I looked at it. lol. |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 06:47:21 I didn't know you had other FR stories . . . I talk to you nearly every night and you never mention them . . . *sigh* shame on you, girl.
[Bookwyrm conveniently does not mention that he hasn't talked about all of his stories either . . . .]
Oh, and that's not very long. It always seems longer when writing it, true, but you always seem to think you're talking too much. Of course -- as I'm sure you [speaking generally now] all have noticed -- I am a bit wordy (how could you not?) so generally every post seems shorter to me. ()
Even so, if I were to post anything on most of my stories, I get so involved that Alaundo would have to delete it from length alone, much less the fact that it's not part of the Realms! Especially my story, "The Nine Elements." Sadon can attest to the complexity of that story, and she's never read it!
My one Realms story is an exception, as currently there's no underlying plot other than a normal campaign; in other words, it's a survive-Undermountain-and-maybe-get-some-cool-stuff sort of trip. (The only reason I've said (on another thread) that it's in the Time of Troubles is because the story starts with a magical mishap like was common in that period.) That will change, of course; sooner or later they'll get out to Waterdeep. However, I basically got the idea for this on the "Artifacts" thread, and the story came into being from the question "how does this come into the character's hands?" -- though being me, there has to be more plot than that.
Hmm, remember what I said about wordiness? |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 06:13:50 Yeah...as mentioned I do have a couple of FR fanfics. One is basically about my drow character. (That's where my name comes from), and the others are about random characters I created. One is Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun's daughter...that story has a really weird twist to it. O.o
Like Bookwyrm said...I've kinda put my drow one on the back burner. (mainly because of other stories...my original takes up most of my time and there are about two others that I've worked on a lot).
Anyway, my drow story is about a female drow who, much like Drizzt, doesn't believe in the same things as the other drow. She has basically no control over her innate abilities. She can use the faerie fire and cast a random globe of darkness. The globe of darkness doesn't go where she wants it to go but she can still get one. (lol). Though she can't levitate at all...that's the only bad part. In the story though, and this defies the drow ways probably but I thought it was a cool idea, she ends up going to the academy for fighters instead of becoming a priestess. This I chose to do because 1) it begins in Ust'Natha and they have the Fe/Male fighter's society and I thought well hey! that's a good reason...and 2) I didn't want to send her to the school for priestesses (I forgot what it was called and Lost Elph has the book with the name in it!!! ).
So...yeah...that's kind of a long overview of my story. The beginning part starts out in Ust'Natha/Menzo then later on she goes up to the surface and meets with Drizzt and the others.
I have an account of fanfiction.net and my drow character's story is up...it's the old unedited version that I haven't gotten around to changing yet....(the really bad version)...the newer one is a lot better I promise! ^_^' |

Posted - 05 Feb 2003 : 05:49:25 As mentioned on some other topics, I'm writing my own fanfic; however, it is VERY non-cannon. (Note the high emphasis!) WotC would never publish it, the fans would never like it (as other than a fanfic, though I hope it'll be acceptable as one) and I wouldn't want them to anyway. It's just not that sort of story. I'll get around to posting more details than the little I've mentioned elsewhere, assuming that people want to hear any of it. (*hint*hint*)
I know that Sadonayerah Odrydin is writing one; it's how I met her. (I'll let her explain what it's about, if she wants to. She's put it on the back burner, but it's got promise.) Now we help each other with our own writings (both for school and for fun).
If you go to FanFiction.net you can find more of this sort. However: much of it is like the average Internet stories. In other words, highly unedited, full of spelling, grammer, and general story mistakes, many of the sort a seventh grader that pays any attention in class would see and know how to correct.
If you're the type who can't read that sort of thing . . . well, I warned you. However, there are more than enough stories there worth the electrons they use to make the site a good one. |
