Hi All,

I've got a strange question for my first post. I recently picked up a bunch of old Realms hardcovers online, one of which was Elminster in Myth Drannor. The copy I received is slightly smaller than the other hardcovers I have of that era. I know TSR/WoTC hardcovers were slightly smaller back then, but it is even smaller than the rest, by about 1/4 inch in width and height.

My question (finally) is this: Was the book printed this way, or did I get some strange reprint, or bookclub copy?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for all the help!

I had a sneaking suspicion it was a book club version.

I'm a little ticked that the seller didn't advertise that, but at least I have to book to read.

Thanks again.

LostInTartarus, you almost certainly have a Science Fiction Book Club edition of ELMINSTER IN MYTH DRANNOR. I have all three US editions (later TSR printings changed the spine hue and colour palette; they are otherwise identical), and the Book Club edition is "smaller all around."

TSR hardcovers ARE smaller then standard hardcovers.
Book club hardcovers are even smaller then the TSR hards.

In any case, having the Elminster series, Cormyr, and Evermeet in hardcover is awesome. :)

Mine is exactly the same size as "The Temptation of Elminster" and "Daughter of the Drow" sitting on the shelf next to each other.

Thanks for the reply Alaundo.

The strange thing is is that I have the Legacy of the Drow series, and the copy of Elminster in Myth Drannor I received is even slightly smaller than they are.

When I was a kid I used to belong to the Science Fiction Book Club, and the books they sent out were smaller hardcovers as well. Those hardcovers are exactly the same size as the copy of Elminster in Myth Drannor I just got.

It's not the end of the world, but I'm a collector trying to fill in the gaps and it looks really funny to have this single hardcover in a series a different size than the rest. If it a book club print or something similar I'd like to get a "real" copy.

Thanks for the help.

Well met

I belive this was also the case for some of the novels within The Legacy of the Drow series. As to the reasoning, I know not
