Warning the following Thread contains infomation from the WOSQ novels (including the conclusion and commentry on Richard Bakers Farthest Reach novel)
The party consisted off
Valas: One of only 2 of the characters to survive the novels: Not in Menzo but otherswise unknown
Ryld: Killed and eatten by Jeggred his soul chose to go to Lolths afterlife
Quenthel: The only other major character to survive, presumablky she will revert back to one of RAS characters if shes to reappear in furture realms lore
Pharaun Mizzrym: Killed and eaten by Demons and Yuggoloths in the last book although Alizza finds a finger which she should potentially use to Ressurect him. (I actually thought Pharaun was one of Richard Bakers characters, while I was reading Farthest reach I thought Araevin had alot of Pharauns traits. Perhaps he'll appear in Thomas reids new trilogy of novels as they will involve Alizza and Vhok
Halistria: Turned into a demon or minion of the Lolth in the last WOSQ its been hinted that shes currently harrassing the Vhaerun worshiping drow in Farthest Reach
Danifae: Merged into Lolth 3.0
Jeggred: Killed by Quenthel
Also authors who contributed which characters to the WOSQ series?
Quenthel: Origionally one of RA Salvatores characters
Pharaun: Richard Lee Byers
Halistria:?
Jeggred:?
Ryld:?
Valas:?
Danifae:? |

Mr. Reid, will this be in like a WotSQ style with different authors or are you writing the whole thing by yourself?
I will be writing the entire trilogy solo.
This is good news. I love the amazing details you put into your novels such as in the Scions of Arribar trilogy. I'm sure it will be great to have similar details about the Underdark and its denizens. |

Too early to tell.

WotC and I just announced at Gen Con that I will be writing a trilogy featuring Aliisza and Kaanyr Vhok. The books will come out late '06, late '07, and mid '08.

is there any chance that Phauran might make a reappearance in this series?
It's too early to know for sure, and I most likely won't admit to it one way or another beforehand, but there's always a chance that Pharaun will have an impact on this series.

I'm sure that this is a question you can't answer, but is there any chance that Phauran might make a reappearance in this series? Since Alisza has his finger, I hope that you will get to address this issue in the trilogy. I know a lot of Realms fans that would really love to see Phauran again. He is my personal favorite character in all the Realms and I would dearly love to read a tale with him involved again. I know the series focuses on Vhok and Alisza, it just seems that a story about Alisza just wouldn't be complete without addressing what if anything she did with small piece of Phauran she acquired at the end of Ressurection.
I know you can't really give anything away, but I had to at least ask and express the desire to have the "Phauran" question possibly addressed in this series. I am looking forward to reading it regardless, because I think both Vhok and Alisza have a lot of potential as "primary" characters. I can't wait to see where you take them in this new trilogy.
And he doesn`t have to be exactly like he was before. Maybe a sentient undead or Aliszas slave or both. Or even a miniature Pharaun that she keeps as a pet. |

I seriously doubt that would happen. Let us first assume that Triel has no access to all the accoutrements of her office (i.e. soldiers, slaves, magic, etc.) and is just a high priestess of Lolth (a very powerful one), Quenthel would still have to go through Gromph to kill Triel, which I am fairly certain even she would have a hard time of. Now, perhaps the failure of Gromph's assults in the first book Dissolution might lead one to think Quenthel can out smart Gromph, but remember Gromph used such singular and independant attacks to A.) ensure he was not linked to the killing and B.) make it appear that Quenthel had been in Lolth's difavor, which would mean little questioning of her death. Either way Gromph was then restricted from acting in and overt manner or from applying his full might against her. If she stuck at Triel I imagine Gromph would be able to unleash all of his considerable resources as both Archmage of Menzoberranzan, Senior Baenre Wizard and a ruthless nine hundred year-old Drow wizard with a serious hatred of Quenthel. So, I doubt Quenthel could unseat Triel on that basis alone, which ignores Triel's resources as Matron Mother of House Baenre and the fact that Quenthel is probably a bit unpopular after all the deaths of the priestesses at Arach-Tinilith in Dissolution, so other houses would likely try to take her out too. Sorry, I just cannot see it happening. There are too many powerful people in Menzoberranzan who I can see not wanting Quenthel on the Baenre Throne to allow it to happen, Lolth's favor or not. |

Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 18:53:08 Plus killing Jeggred would have probably destroyed any chance he had of going home to Menzoberranzan, which is something he always wanted to do. I would say that's a major part of why he was willing to follow orders, unlike Valas or Halistria or even Ryld, Pharaun wanted to go home. |

khorne, because Pharaun is a drow. He's not supposed to be caring for his friend. Besides, the drow wizard understood the bigger picture, knowing that Danifae supports the draegloth. |

Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 14:52:53 I think Quenthel will reemerge as a major player in Menzo again, just because she'll take her place back as the Mistress of Arach-Tinilith. Other than that, only Valas was smart enough to remain alive in a way in which he will be able to adventure again.
I did like Danifae tho, wish she would come back from Lolth 3.0 to wreak havoc upon the Dark Elf race.

Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 10:13:43 That's the thing about mercenaries, they always seem to know what's in their best interest and they always seem to know exactly when their contracts have run out. Usually right before theings get really dangerous. |

Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 10:08:52 I think out of all the WOSQ main characters Valas had to be the smartest leaving whn he did.

Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 07:59:01 All I know is that it would be a shame is Pharaun stayed dead. I mena, I can understand why he had to die, but he is just too much fun to leave dead for all time. I imagine if he does return he will somehow be Alizza's property ever after...well that's what you get with messing around with a girl who's part tanar'ri.
I imagine little new in line for Valas. He will most likely continue wandering around and being a merc as he was before. It seems to have worked up until now, seeing as he's one of two people left alive at the end.
Quenthel: with any luck she'll end up on the wrong end of Drizzt's blade...again, I mean. She is just annoying. Like most other Drow she thinks she's entitled to the world and gets screwed as a result, but what is unbelievable is that she, of all people, thought she knew the will of the Spider Queen? The Spider Queen she herself observed many times as being the Lady of Choas? Man she must be dumb for a Drow. |
DDH_101 |
Posted - 24 Aug 2005 : 05:46:33 I think Quenthel will become a major NPC. If there are any more novels taking place in Menzo, I suspect that she'll become like a "Khelben" type of character. She'll be powerful and influential, but not necessarily become the protagonist and just have cameos. |
