So, it took my 1 - 2 years to get through the FR novel The Nether Scroll ... In between, I have read other books ... among them, the Return of the Archwizards.

So, what did I like about this novel? Well, I learned a bit or two about the Realms ... I have read more interesting and more funny books.

However, I am curios. What race does lady Mantis belong to? Does anybody know?

In some ways Lady Mantis functions like a malevolent Tom Bombadil from The Lord of the Rings, another enigmatic patron-resource I've never understood.

But I really enjoyed the characters...very mundane compared to other FR novels but suitably enigmatic...especially the roguish orphan and goblin guide. That's what set this novel apart for me, the unanswered questions that, TTBOMK, remain locked in the authors' mind.

Indeed. I would like very much to learn more about Lady Mantis.

I read this novel a few times a few years ago, and I have no idea what she was. I've never run across anything referencing her besides the novel. She was an interesting antagonist, though.

In fact I located your thread while searching for that information.
