Has anyone heard any other information about this or know if its more than just a rumor? I cant recall exactly where I first heard about it. |

Posted - 31 Jan 2003 : 19:45:31 If there is a Waterdeep novel it will come about just around the time WOTC releases the next Regional Supplement, surprise, surprise, "Waterdeep and Surrounding Areas."
After all, we get the "Unapproachable East" this year and more than one novel seems to be featuring that area to some extent.
I wonder if WOTC plans it that way? |

Yup, you got it Mumadar! That would be excellent!!! Id totally forgot about the background of Undermountain! (God knows how I forgot as Im working on some Undermountain stuff at the moment )
Maybe thats the very reason that the novel is likely not to go ahead, there is simply TOO MUCH history and background to cover..... dealing with Waterdeep would be a great task, but imagine the history of Undermountain, the numerous levels, the building of it all, establishment of Skullport.... the list goes on! But WOW, what an epic novel it would be!

Imagine reading the story of Waterdeep in its beginnings as a single hut, then to a small fishing village, then port etc. and the buildings and constructions that went on to make it...... ::grand musical crescendo:: The City of Splendors!!
It would be quite impressive to see how it grew, just as Cormyr: A Novel did for that kingdom. |

Posted - 31 Jan 2003 : 10:47:13 The only thing I recall hearing/reading is at one time I believe on the WOTC board, Elaine Cunningham mentioned that she had pitched the idea of a Waterdeep style novel much like you mentioned. Apparently nothing came of it immediately. However, in a chat, several months ago that Ed Greenwood had, Elaine C popped in and there seemed to be something that he wanted to mention, she hinted they weren't suppossed to talk about it, leading a casual observer to believe they might be working on something possibly. Again, nothing concrete, but if they are working on a novel together, big IF there, then my bet would be it is the Waterdeep style novel. |
