Im currently reading The Thousand Orcs, prior to that I read Dissolution, and before that I read The Sorcerer and Sands of the Soul.
In all four of those novels and in some previous to that (which would have been in the Sembia series but I cant remember which), I noticed that they all contained AT LEAST TWO typing errors. Misplaced words or grammar!
Has anyone else notices this in the later FR novels to be published? have WotC sacked all their novel proofreaders? Its down to these people to ensure that everything is 100% before publication, surely?! |

And what's with the TempUs/TempOs distinction? That just sort of happened!
I suppose it has something to do with the release of 3rd ed.... |

I have caught several errors in the Icewind Dale series. The evil wizard Akar Kessell has his last name spelled differently probably 4 times. heh. I've only noticed four anyways.  So far ive seen Kesell, Kessell, Kessel, and Kesel. Who knows which one is right?? Only Bob himself.  |

Books from lower echelon publishers (and WotC is no Alfred A. Knopf) tend to have more typos and such than books by better publishers.
If you read and compare books by an author that has some books published by Ballantine and others by TOR (a pretty common scenario), in my experience the TOR books will have a lot more typos and other errors.
Speaking specifically about WotC books, pay attention to the word "mithral" in Salvatore's books. In the early books it was "mithral", then it became "mithril" in the middle books, then it got changed back to "mithral" in the later books. I'm pretty sure this applies even to "Mithral Hall".
I know some D&D players maintain that "mithril" and "mithral" are not the same, but they are in Salvatore's books, since there're no times when the two words are used to refer to different things. |

I've been reading the Cleric Quintet by R.A Salvatore, and it seems I've seen 4 or 5 typographical errors in it already. One I remember specifically was the word "breathe" spelled "breath". Sometimes I also noticed that there weren't spaces between words (or they were very small spaces). |

Hmm... so far... of the novels i've Read... the worst about typoes, misplaced/missing words has been Soldiers of Ice by David Cook.... and The Ogre's Pact (and i'm just halfway through... so that's bad) by Troy Denning...
i don't know how many times i would reread some lines to see if i just skipped a word or something... |

I've noticed some typos too, but they're infrequent and don't really get in the way of the book or anything, so I don't really mind when I see one. |

*decides to just leave the idea alone... as he doesn't know how many times a typo or such makes him stop mid-sentence to reread the sentence to make sure it's a typo... and he resists the urge each time to mark in his book with a pencil where the typo is... he doesn't want to ruin his books :P* |

Indeed...that has ALWAYS bugged me...
I've been training as an editor for three years now....and it simply blows my mind that blatant errors could occur in internationally-distributed novels like the FR. It just kills me... |

Hmmm... wouldn't be able to comment on that one. I normally read very fast, often skipping over minor errors when I read a book for the first time. Only if something very blatant pops-up it'll catch my attention. |
