Can anyone who has read Daughter of the Drow and Tangled Webs please give me their brief review or rating of the novels? After reading a sample chapter of Windwalker (book 3 in the series) im really looking forward to reading the novel when its released but obviously ill need to read the first two books beforehand. What do you think to them?

Personally, I loved Daughter of the Drow. It is so wonderful to read about a Baenre that isn't so stuck up. I hated all Baenres until I read about Liriel. I think the story also help push me toward the background of Targondigeta, since Gromph was so evil. I hope to read Tangled Webs soon but until I find it I'll have to just keep hating Gromph little more each day.

And werent ya glad of it!? An excellent novel, MUCH better than id expected, although I should have judged the book by the author instead of the novel.... However, Elaine Cunningham was quite a new author at the time of the novels first release.

I am glad that I read this one, as I have not read a drow book since the way old Dark Elf trilogy. This one has been so good, and I am looking forward to the PB version of Tangled Webs and finally Windwalker.

I never realised that the drow books could be so great, and I thought they might get too complicated. but this is now a world I love. So I have just bought Legacy of the Drow, Silent Blade & Sea of Swords.

I might be able to work my way up to Thousand Orcs soon. What did others think of that one by the way?

Thanks Rad

As I have just stated in another topic, I have JUST finished reading Daughter of the Drow. The only disappointment .....is that I left it all these years before picking up and reading this novel!!!! The hardcovers have been sat on my shelf since the day they were released back in the mid-90's. The covers REALLY put me off (i know its wrong to judge a book by its cover) but the new covers really attracted me and the story is great! Highly recommended!

Thanks all!
Im quite looking forward to reading them, especially since getting into WotSQ lately after a lonnnnng period that I havent read any drow books!

I think when the novels were first released, the covers really put me off, but with this new cover art they look much more appealing!! (yeah i know, I shouldnt judge a book by the cover )

Rad, these books are really good. I've red them within three days and I think they are worth reading.

I don't know, maybe I say this, because I'm a drow (just like Liriel), but I really liked them.

I'm a huge fan of Cunningham, so I picked both of the novels up and gave them a read when the second came out. Liriel Baenre is an interesting character and she's a very nice change of pace from the only other drow to enter print in a meaningful way. . . Don't get me wrong, Drizzt is still my boy.

You can trust anything Elaine Cunningham produces, as far as I can tell. If you read Daughter and Tangled, give the Song and Swords series a try.
