Whoa-Just picked this up used, and it's great! Didn't know it had all the cool authors writing about their popular characters. Haven't gotten to the Drizzt story yet, but looking forward to. The story of Danilo and Ayrlin explained a few things to me, also.

I do need sleep if I forgot good old Elaine! She rocks!
Bookwyrm Posted - 21 Feb 2003 : 06:37:27
Elaine Cunningham of course. And as I recall, you liked Mel Odom's Lost Empires book . . . though his later trilogy wasn't so hot.

You know, my brother just told me about this site, so I obviously haven't posted here much. Just look next to my name. In fact I don't do much on the internet. I do however, have a impressive collection of FR books. In fact you can probably number on your two hands the ones I don't own. Bookwyrm can attest to this as my collection of FR books far exceed his (though at this point he has more books than I do).
But I digress, there are certain authors in FR that are always worth keeping an eye out for. One of course is R.A. Salvatore. If you haven't read all of his FR books, this needs to become your mission in life. His efforts outside of FR can wait for when you are bored.

Ed Greenwood, not only is he the reason we can have this site, he constantly spins a fast pace story full of death and destruction. And then there are all the little facts that tie so many aspects of the FRs together, and he explains them here and there thoughout all his books.

Troy Denning. Good author. Good stories. Fleshes out the story lines of the character.

Is late, Bookwyrm, who am I forgetting?

Oh!!! I almost forgot. Hey Elph? Did you see the topic about Elaith?
Sadonayerah Odrydin Posted - 21 Feb 2003 : 06:08:05
True true. I forgot about that. So I'll just bring it on Monday and you can give it back when you're done. Then let me know if you want to borrow any of my other Realms of books.
Lost Elph Posted - 21 Feb 2003 : 06:01:36
SURE!!!!! "When your done" you know as well as i do that i can`t read just one book at a time.....it`s just soooooo hard!!!!!
Sadonayerah Odrydin Posted - 21 Feb 2003 : 05:46:07
Sorry about that Elph. I had wanted to read it. (Though I didn't finish the book). Do you want to borrow it again? I can bring it to school on Monday if you'd like and whenever you finish reading Homeland you can read Realms of Valor.
Lost Elph Posted - 21 Feb 2003 : 05:34:52
the two i like are the Drizzt story and the halfling one (can`t think of the name) but those where the only two i got to read cause Sadonayerah wanted her book back

okay first off, sorry if I'm bringing up an old topic. but I wanted to add my 2 cents to this one.

From the parts of Realms of Valor that I read, I really liked it. And that's basically one of the things that got my interest into the Drizzt books. By the time I read the Drizzt story, I think I had finished Homeland. I don't remember for sure. But it just kind of sparked my interest.

The Danilo and Arilyn story did kind of fill in a gap for me. I had read just about all of the Song and Swords books and I thought it was pretty interesting to read that little bit. I had always been intrigued with Arilyn's assassin life.

The one with Jander actually perked my interest enough to have ordered "Vampire of the Mist". I really liked that book.

Anywho, I'm still working on reading some of the other Realms of books. I kind of put them to the side for a while. I have yet to finish the Paths of Darkness series. (it has The Silent Blade in it.) I'm only on the second one because I haven't had the money to go and buy it.... that's the only one in the series I need then I can finish reading it. (lol.) oh well...I've already started reading Servant of the Shard.

Well, that's my "2 cents."

El, good--Drizzt-good--Danilo-good-Pawldo--good--That elf vampire guy from Ravenloft, The scribe from the Empires Trilogy--All good. Course, these are characters I've been reading about for more than 10 years, so i'm kinda attached

I thought they were pretty good. I just found it hard to get "hooked" on each story because they're short and by the time I got "hooked" the story was almost over. Other than that they were interesting though. The story about Drizzt was good too because it filled in a gap between two of the books and was actually mentioned in one of them.

The Drizzt story should be required reading, its a really good window into his mind.

Awww... I was going to pick that up when I went $hopping $_$ at B&N. It's a shame I didn't. Instead I picked up the Legends boxed set about Raistlin and Caramon. =p Good book, but I'd still like to get the Realms of Valor more

Bellua, my dear, as usual you are right.

Realms of Valor is one of my favorties as well.
Lord Rad Posted - 02 Jan 2003 : 13:12:40
I havent read any of the stories in Realms of Valor yet but I have read a few from Realms of Infamy which I thought were really good! I intend to read a lot more of the anthologies as its not easy to get stuck into a full novel when real life keeps throwing things in the way, so short stories should help bridge the gap

Bellua Aeneus Lacerta, which of the stories did you read? How do you rate each one?.... lets say, on a scale of 1-10
