Which upcoming Forgotten Realms novel scheduled for a 2005 release are you looking forward to the most?
Apologies for any novel left off the ballot. However, we appear to have only space for six possible answers. Please note, that if you click on the "View Results" option prior to voting, you will not be allowed to vote.

Posted - 23 Jan 2007 : 08:35:13 Wow!!! What a list to choose from. I love all of the authors and was looking forward to every novel but one stood out. City of Splendors got my very enthusiastic vote. A novel written by Ed and Elaine!!! Dreams do come true. I have since purchased it but like a lot of others I have a huge stockpile to read before I get to it. I may have to "accidentally" bump a few books of the stack to make room for it though. |

Posted - 19 Jul 2005 : 04:34:39 I was VERY much anticipating Ressurection, yet dreading it at the same time. I couldn't wait to see how the series ended, but I also didn't want to see it end :( |

Posted - 07 Jul 2005 : 05:54:37 For me, I am most certainly looking forward for the arrival of Waterdeep by Elaine Cunningham and Promise of The Witch King by RAS. Though I am also looking forward to the conclusion of the Year of The Rogue Dragons. |

And who was supposed to be writing Bladesinger again? I seem to recall. . . no, nevermind. I'll wait until someone who knows more realms(PUBLISHING)lore than I do have the answer.
I could be mistaken but the only listing for Bladesigner didn't say. :/
Hmm. I seem to recall that someone knew. Someone.......
Well, I guess the AUTHOR knows who he is.
Cheers
I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Bladesinger author was NOT a known Realms writer. I think he's supposed to be a writer on some other setting (DL or Eberron). I don't remember where I saw it, could any of the scribes recall this?

Check out Richard Baker's thread here at Candlekeep. I think there is where he made mention of this development. |

Yes, indeed. I'm sorry it's not coming out sooner too -- they mixed up the order of the Fighters novels a bit. Look at it this way: This delay only means they'll be working on perfecting Bladesinger even more.

Posted - 05 May 2005 : 17:33:17 Yes I look forward to Waterdeep, yes I look forward to Last Mythal 2. But I know those are going to be solid reads (and little surprise on how much I'll enjoy them.) Not to take anything away from them or anything.

Greetings to all forum members, can I know a little bit more about the coming Novel called The Farthest Reach such as the background of the story and the release date?
Not much has been revealed regarding the background of the story. You might wish to check Richard Baker's thread as I believe some details might have been posted there. The last I heard, the release date was July 1st. |

That revelation did surprise me a bit. That is going to be one crowded novel with all the groups possibly involved in the events within. |

While there are a few characters that I'd love to see a novel focus on regarding their past, I'm overall happy the new novels are moving forward in the timeline. One possible option is for WOTC to continue to have some short stories within anthologies focus on past events. |

'Tis set in present-day. The FR people very rarely delve into the past with novels.
Because they are bounded by the events that occured back then?

I, for one, got bored with another D&D setting because they did two big events in modern day, and then cranked out book after book that dealt with something in the past. |

With Resurrection and me knowing its contents by the time of this post, I voted for Farthest Reach. I was impressed with Forsaken House (its only downside being that I thought the main protagonist's personality too bland), and it seems Farthest Reach will feature one of my favorite Realms locations, Myth Drannor.
Is Forsaken House also written by Richard Baker?
Yup. Farthest Reach is the sequel to Forsaken House, and the second book in the Last Mythal trilogy. |

I will be honest and state that sadly, I have only read one of the books relating to this topic. I finished Rage will recently deployed to Iraq, and I have to say, what a way to escape for a while. Great story line, and the concept of a half golem was made believeable. I also strongly liked the Ice Dwarven ranger. Good stuff, so my vote would be part two of the Year of the Rogue Dragons. That being said, I WILL be reading a good many of these trilogies in the future, as I am totally hooked on FR.
Good luck in Iraq Enialus, and I concur, the Rage was awesome. |
