If you look on the map in "The Yellow Silk" it shows you where Riverhand the Sage lives. Why then, is this person never even mentioned in the book? Our is he or she and I just missed it?

Arivia has it! Riverhand is the cranky author of the insider's look at spellfire, described as living in Spandeliyon. Before Unapproachable East, references to Spandeliyon were few and far between and I picked up on that one. I didn't want to drop spellfire into The Yellow Silk (didn't fit the story) but at one point I did consider having Tycho consult Riverhand. That idea disappeared fairly quickly, but I couldn't resist marking Riverhand's house on the map.

Thanks very much, Zelg! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I don't know about any fo the other Rogues books, but unfortunately I don't have any immediate plans for sequels (although I'd do one in a second!). Tycho and Li do pop up again in my story in the Realms of the Dragons anthology, though.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured that was the case.

I just thought someone with a name like that had to be pretty important. At the very end I thought he would jump in and save the day or something (I guess that would be pretty lame though) but that didn't happen, so it just made me wonder. And though I feel I'm fairly knowlegable about the Forgotten Realms, I haven't come across a Riverhand the Sage in my reading yet. Anyways it was a good curveball .

Hi Zelg -

Nope, you didn't miss anything. Riverhand is not a character in the book. That's a throw away reference to a sidebar in the FRCS (I'll tell you or someone else can show off their knowledge of trivia...)

The original draft map I turned in had a few other references that didn't make it into the book either (street names, markets, etc in Spandeliyon), but probably for reasons of clarity on the final map. You can see it on my website at http://www.sff.net/people/dbassing/spandeliyon-draftmap.jpg
