Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 05:59:13 I'm on book two of the Legacy of the Drow series and I've found them to be(so far) not as good as the Icewind Dale and Dark Elf series.
Does anyone else agree or is it just me? |

Posted - 20 Apr 2004 : 23:05:24 Hey. I personally agree that the Legacy of the Drow is not as good as the first two series. However I still think that it is an excellant book and should not be deferred from people |

Posted - 20 Apr 2004 : 05:13:46 I found the Legacy of the Drow books were okay. Its the series after that I had a hard time finishing. (as I never got passed the third book). Its not as good. (In other words, I'm agreeing with Bookwyrm).
My favorites would have to be the Icewind Dale trilogy. Homeland is good too though don't get me wrong. (in all truth, my favorite Dark Elf trilogy book would have to be the last one, Sojourn).

Posted - 20 Apr 2004 : 02:22:06 I can't add much, being that I read them as they came out. I do have to say that I enjoyed reading the chronologically "earlier" books because I was so interested in seeing what made him tick more than anything else. I'm not so sure I would have enjoyed them as much if I wasn't already drawn to the characters.

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 23:32:43 Bah! I'm with Bookwyrm on this.
On the topic of the actual scroll, yes. |

That's an interesting point Shadowlord, although I think that now that the issue has been settled, it would be best to just read the books in the order that the author thinks is best.
Bah, what does the author know about this matter? |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 14:57:11 Bookwyrm, while Icewind Dale was written first, Mr. Salvatore did say Homeland came first in the series when organized in chronological order. |

I'd like to say "Oh no, here we go again", but unfortunately I wasn't here for the last debate on this 'Drizzt' issue . . . .
Don't you mean "fortunately"?
As for you, Shadowlord, Mr. Salvatore himself said Icewind Dale comes first. Shall you not listen to the author himself? |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 09:29:41 Don't worry, Lady Kazandra, as I'm sure many of the other scribes will feel free to take your place. |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 09:19:03 No sense at all, if she's listening to you, Bookwyrm. Homeland is the one to start with... |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 09:00:42 Nyhahahaha!
Okay, so I like rubbing that in a bit much. Well, I did get some flak from Sage and others about my opinion.
At least the Lady Kazandra is showing some sense. |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:45:01 Ahh . . . this is good news. I'm starting on the 'Drizzt' series of books soon, although despite the Sage's protests I'm going along with the Bookwyrm's (and Mr. Salvatore's) suggestion on which series to start with first - the Icewind Dale trilogy.

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:15:23 As does Mr. Salvatore himself, if you recall. |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:11:14 Actually, the book that introduced me to the Realms some odd years ago was Homeland, and I still consider it to be the best "Drizzt book" to date... |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 07:02:46 I have to agree with that. The Legacy wasn't as good, and the other books had to work with that as a bace. Passage to Dawn was good to a point; after they find out who the true enemy is (there, that doesn't give much away), it slides down to the lowest point of the series to that date.
As to the rest of the series . . . well, that's been complained about often enough here. |

Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 06:23:49 I enjoyed the early Drizzt books immensely more than the others I read later in the character's journeys. |
