Posted - 09 Feb 2017 : 09:39:41 Anyone who has read the novel "Bladesinger" by Keith Strohm will recall that there are Elvish and Rashemi words scattered through the text. I've taken a stab at translating most of them and was hoping for some feedback/suggestions on my attempt. I have tried to contact Keith Strohm via social media but he either doesn't care for politely phrased unsolicited messages (fair enough I suppose), ignores fan messages (again fair enough I suppose) or couldn't give a stuff about my request (also fair enough I suppose!). So here is what I've come up with (noting that some are translated in the actual text):
dmizny - R - companion/pet (p.4) laeriaen - E - adult elves (p.11) (see voeraen) kaer' - E - first (p.12) vaelen - E - hilt (p.12) nyvarskiz - R - dangerous/perilous storm (p.20) ordsk - R - edible pickled root (p.32) voeraen - E - infant/child elves (p.40) el'tael - E - bladesingers (p.44) va - E - father (p.45) zaen - E - vigilant, all-seeing (p.47) sheaen - E - gaze, sight (p.47) vyvadnya - R - mysteries (p.63) ildva - R - bond, agreement, concord (p.71) arael'lia - E - central meeting place ? [literally "heart place"] (p.80) tael - E - novice/trainee bladesinger (p.83) arael - E - heart (p.115) sha - E - friend (p.115) haera - E - centre (p.150) alu - E - water (p.203) dala - E - battle (p.203)
Would appreciate any feedback.
