Posted - 03 Mar 2015 : 19:47:48 Having recently started my first Realms novel (Dawnbringer) in quite a while, I decided to stop by the local B&N to see what other Realms novels they keep stocked. Wow, what a surprise! Unless Salvatore wrote it or it JUST came out, B&N ain't stocking it. Seems a little weird that even books just a few years old aren't being stocked. Is this the norm nowadays?
As a side note: I purchase 99% of my reading material online anyway. |

Posted - 04 Mar 2015 : 21:55:27 Thankfully I have a great used book store locally and can get Realms paperbacks for $2-$4. The only problem is that I just have to wait for ones to come in that I don't already own. |

Posted - 04 Mar 2015 : 04:30:22 I have started trying to get everything on eBook but in Canada it's very hard as so many older Realms books are not on ebook format, or they were but no longer for sale. I have a soft copy of almost every Forgotten Realms book that I want now thanks to Amazon, but its nice to have the entire Realms catalogue in one place if I want it. But so far, I'm not seeing a lot of what I want for sale. Sigh. |

Posted - 04 Mar 2015 : 03:27:32 For the most part I prefer books in a hardback format and I usually just get them new or used through Amazon. I will get paperback if hardback is not available but I can't bring myself to go digital yet. Having said that, if I really want to read a book that is impossible to find at a cheap price, or I just don't feel like buying it, I go to the library. Most library's have an interlibrary loan program. So if your library doesn't have it they will find it for you from another library. That's how I recently read Shadowrealm. |

Not even Erin Evans' books, they sell pretty well afaik?
My B&N literally had 10-15 Salvatore books, the Sundering books, a few of the newer Elminster books, and Brimstone Angels. It didn't even fill up one full shelf. |

Posted - 03 Mar 2015 : 21:26:28 My Barnes & Noble is slow to put new releases on the shelf, unless it's a major release. Some fantasy stuff they don't get out for a couple weeks after release day. |

Posted - 03 Mar 2015 : 21:08:35 Yeah $8 for a book that I'll finish in a day or two is a bit steep. Used "Like New" books are the way to go. |

Posted - 03 Mar 2015 : 21:05:04 That's what I've discovered. Most of my Realms books, novel or sourcebook comes from Amazon, used book stores, or some soul cashes in his collection at my local game store to pay rent. I've not bought anything from a "new" book store like Barnes and Noble since I was in college. |
