Title says it all, I mean during the Adversary, great book btw, there was a chosen of Vhaeraun which has to mean he's alive right?, so what possible repercussions would this have regarding the Dark Seldarine, do any of you think we might be seeing Eilistraee and Co. coming back?

Agreed. Idk why they neglected the 'tragic' part of him in favor of ''brainwashed Lolth's lackey #5475836''. He should be more torn between the demon and his original self IMO, especially considering his original relation with Eilistraee, who would surely still be happy to welcome him. Instead the whole thing boiled down to ''he destroyes a demon, it taints him and BAM! He is now forever corrupted and Lolth's consort''. This is so cheap tbh, did he magically lose all of his willpower? Such an event should change him, sure, but not like that.

I always thought that they had equally mistreated Zanassu - and interesting one liner from old 1st E became nothing but corrupting power - bleh

Evan's confirmed it to be Vhaeraun in some thread on CK

(Sorry. That was funny in my head.)

Good catch! This is what I would call one of the hints as to what is happening in the larger story. As I believe has been said elsewhere, the gods are all coming back, and here is some proof of that (among others...). And I was quick and snatched Vhaeraun.

Heh, glad to be somewhat helpful.

You could also have Eilistraee's and Vhaeraun's followers (if you want to have them on your game, to begin with) involved in this matter, trying to lessen Lolth's influence and make her lose quite a few 'indirect' drow followers through the loss of Selvetarm as an ally.

Thanks for the suggestion, I plan on having Eilistraee's and Vhaeraun's followers forming a grudging alliance vs Lolthites, with the Vhaeraunites eventually planning to betray them and try to brainwash Selvetarm to their cause rather than Lolth's or Eilistraee's so they can have complete dominion over drow males, who I'm sure are tired of living in the matriarchal drow society and hope to instigate some sort of revolution.

This gives me an idea for a campaign actually, a recently resurrected Selvetarm, struggling to contain the demonic essence within him entrusts a follower to discover a means for his freedom, all the while the follower is being hunted by Lolthites for trying to undo Lolth's work.

Though the book didn't say V's name, it was pretty clear Phalar was a Vhaeraunite

It doesn't exactly mean that Vhaeraun is alive (btw, is he even mentioned in the book), but it's a good sign. Also -given how linked the two siblings are, especially after the Masked Lady thing- if he's back, then his sister should be too.

About Eilistraee, the ending of LP is muddy when it comes to what happened to the Dark Dancer -and, according to the author, purposefully so-,she can easily return to the canonical Realms and there are various ways to accomplish that.

For example, you could say that Corellon gathered his children in his arms -actually saving them from Lolth at the end of the game- and that they are now healing and relearning in Arvandor.

You could use the fact that only the Avatar of the Masked Lady was slayed (by a Crescent Blade that had lost its soul-killing power, since Cavatina survived it), and that Eilistraee and Vhaeraun spent the 100 year time gap recovering from the blow.

There's also the option of the two siblings giving up their divinity. They could say that Eilistraee wanted to pull herself out of a divine war that only caused death and suffering to her people, where their lives are nothing but pawns. So she decided to give up her godhood, to continue fighting her battle alongside the drow (and it fits her better IMO). However, since her followers would no longer be able to have her as their goddess, she decided to offer them the opportunity to be allowed in Arvandor (this means that they should change the facts a bit, making it so that the transformation could be accepted or refused i.e. allowing choice, as Eilistraee would and should do). Something akin to this was supposed to be included in the 4e Menzoberranzan book, but it was cut at the end, so idk if they are going to go this route (or if they are going to bring the Dark Seldarine back at all).

Anyway the drow are going to be Core PHB race in 5e and FR will likely be the flagship setting and THO has recently posted this:

''Ed tells me it's HIGHLY likely we haven't seen the last of Eilistraee.''

I wouldn't read too much in it, but this is the perfect time for Eilistraee and Vhaeraun to come back.

I'm fairly certain reading in one of the threads here Evans mentioning snatching Vhaeraun, can't be bothered to find it right now. So it most definitely is Vhaeraun's chosen in The Adversary, which indeed is a great book.

Well I found the quote but funnily on another site quoting Erin on Candlekeep.

"Wait, what? Vhaeraun is dead? Oh holy crap, why didn't anyone tell me?

ML Eilistraee or Eilistraee and Vhaeraun. Personally I prefer the latter option, but I would accept the former as well at this point. They could have Eilistraee return as the Masked Lady and then have Vhaeraun return too. I just want them back...

Well its obviously the other way around for me but yeah the important thing would be to have them back. Fortunately it looks like we wont have to wait for too long.

I think most of the gods will be back. Hopefully this will lessen the spider queens power. I never liked the idea of her being a greater deity.
