For those who may have missed it lo those many years ago, I've posted Cale's origin story, ANOTHER NAME FOR DAWN.

Read it here if you're so inclined: http://paulskemp.com/blog/erevis-cales-origin-story-another-name-for-dawn/

I remember reading this when it was published in Dragon. Kourvikoum I remember that word, weird the things that stick with you. The consequence of choice. Top notch stuff.

Great read! I've actually been reading the trilogies backwards (haven't read Shadowrealm or The Godborn yet). I would wonder about who this Jak Fleet fellow was and how Erevis Cale came to know all these languages. Then I would read how Erevis noted to Varra that Erevis Cale wasn't his real name and that (I believe) she was one of only two people alive to know his true name.

For me, the stories I've read so far had more of a punch reading them backwards, than I think I would have gotten had I read them in order, beginning with Another Name For Dawn.

To any who haven't read this (and are considering jumping into the Cale trilogy) - highly recommended :)
