Sure Sage. I had a flick through last night (one of those 45 minute long "flicks" ) and its pretty damn good!! I love creature manuals anyway and was always a big fan of the old Monstrous Compendiums, being a big fan of Ravenloft made me very anxious for this book too. There are a number of creatures from Denizens of Darkness updated for v3.5 but there are also many new creatures, definately glad I bought it....... ill mail you personally once ive dug into it a bit more but felt I should just.....er....summerise here 
Down side: the cover art is still appauling!!! Come on White Wolf! 
Thanks for that Rad... I've just ordered my copy this morning so I'll have to wait a little while longer...

Nope--No connections for Yellow Silk. Just at the little bookstore in town. Go figure.
Anybody else pre-order Homeland Collectors Edition yet? Sounds like a limited edition, but don't know how "Limited". |

Ach!! Well neither The Yellow Silk or WotSQ:Extinction were in the stores over here in the UK yesterday! shucks 
However, I did pick up the new Ravenloft Denizens of Dread!  ....and a book entitled Transitions - the Art of Tood Lockwood (famed fantastic artist for many Forgotten Realms products, as well as other D&D\d20 settings and products). Highly recommended. |

Anyway, just another follow-up from something Edain wrote about Machiavelli's "THE ART OF WAR" - It was first written in 1520. And for those interested in reading the text, possibly to extract some useful ideas for a campaign focused on the conduction of a major war, see The Art of War Strategy Site for more details.

Actually, though Tzung Tsu's work is the better known book by the title The Art of War, it is the not the only book with that title. Machiavelli wrote a book, The Art of War, around 1500 (if memory serves) about warfare and his experieinces pertaining to it. Its a good book, but hardy as famous as Tsung Tzu's earlier work. Now, back to the Realms before Alaundo gets his staff. |

Hmm...I feel the same way, especially when I hear someone quote something from a novel or classic text that I particularly enjoyed...It infuriates me to such a degree that I usually start reading through that particular book within the hour of hearing the quote...
I've never actually read Discourses, but then I've found it difficult to find any original first edition copies here (I usually make the effort to read through a first edition of whatever book I am reading before reading the later editions if necessary...'Origin of Species' being a classic example of this [Mournblade will know what I am talking about]).

No, I first read Machiavelli's books (The Prince, Art of War, and Discourses) when I was like eight or nine. It has just been a while. Not to mention someone quoted something from the Prine the other day and I did not remember it so I said "Okay, time to reread Machiavelli.". Cannot let anyone out smart me when it comes to classics; it just cannot be for the universe to stay in balance. |

Wow, I'm going to be jealous if The Yellow Silk has made it Denmark before I get my author copies! :)
Anyway - hi and thanks to everyone who has bought The Yellow Silk. This (and my forum registration coming through) seemed like a good time to stick my head up and say that I'm around if anyone has any questions or comments.
(YS has actually made to bookstore here in Toronto, so I've had my fix of gushing over a fresh book )

I am assuming of course, that you really don't want anyone to tell you how those particular novels end...That would spoil the fun of actually reading them .

That stack of tomes on my desk is way too high. Before I touch anything Realms-related I have to plow through The Prince, The Art of War, and a very long poem by a man named Edmund Spencer. So, I will probably get around to reading Extinction around the time Resurrection is released. I still haven't read The Lone Drow or the Windwalker, and I've had them for like two months. Anyone wanna do me a favor and tell me how they end now so I don't have to read them? |

Hmmm...I just received my copy of Extinction today myself...Like you Bellua, I am hoping to try and read it through entirely this weekend, providing I have very little in the way of interference.
As for Yellow Silk, that's not due out here for at least another two weeks, so I'm hoping you'll be finished and have a review for us before I get to it...

Me too. I didn't know it had hit the bookstores yet. I just hope that my local bookstore (in Copenhagen, Denmark) has it yet, they are usually very good at having the books at the release day.
