I was excited to see this so I thought I'd share. Hope it's not out of bounds.

THE GODBORN has its Amazon listing at last. As of this posting, the kindle version isn't listed, but it will cycle through soon enough, I'm sure.

Release date: October 1. :-)

One year? Hmm, I thought just six months. Oh, well, I prefer hardcover anyway, so it doesn't matter that much to me.

It depends on how well the hardcover sells. A Dance With Dragons mass market paperback is scheduled for a tenative September 2014 release and the hardcover came out in July of 2011.

International Shipping is also a factor as well -- especially for some overseas destinations.

Your example of A Dance With Dragons releasing in July 2011 was mainly something of a US/Europe trend. Here in Australia, we actually had to wait until late August/early September for the hardcover to release. Which means the paperback probably won't hit our shores until October/November of 2014.

I can't say I'm too happy about the news that it's hardcover only at first.

Previously I've noticed only RAS and EG get this treatment, which usually meant I waited a short time before picking up their novels.

Now, rather than releasing a book a month on their normal schedule in 2013, they (WOTC) gives us less books, and hardcovers at first meaning the first Sundering novel won't be available for me until at least February 2014.

I guess there's always the library. They're pretty good. If they don't have something they'll purchase it on request. My $300/year in library taxes at least does something positive for me form time to time.

But did you mean a (predicted) year's supply of the mass paperback is released all at once, or that it's released as needed in smaller increments to keep the stores filled for a year?

What Wooly said. I meant that on October 1, 2013 the hardcover and ebook will be available. Probably (because I'm making an educated guess here) around October 1, 2014, the mass market version of THE GODBORN will be released.

Hardcover and ebook initially, yes. Then a mass market paperback release at some point thereafter (usually a year, but I don't know for certain).

Usually there is about a one year delay between the release of a book in hardcover and the release of the book in paperback. I've also noticed that a lot of books are being released as more expensive paperbacks, first, and then later as mass market paperbacks.

Cool ! Loved the blurb.
So Cale is alive after all, well sort of.

Moved a month earlier than previously stated? Hmmm....

Oct 1st? hells man, with my luck....we will most likely soon conceive a child and ill be on diaper duty, then i will have another 2-3 year wait for this novel

I am *very much* looking forward to The Godborn. I started reading the first Erevis Cale novel a few months ago and by now have read all of them, and really liked them.

Not the first time I've seen a listing for Godborn on amazon.

Not getting drawn into this trap again.
