Posted - 02 Nov 2011 : 14:30:11 Alas, it's not GODBORN, but I'm hoping that a listing for GODBORN will hit Amazon and B&N soon. November 2012 is the scheduled release date and I understand the listings appear about nine months before release.
In the interim, I want to mention that the first of my original sword and sorcery novels from Angry Robot Books, entitled THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE, does, in fact, have listings at the big online book sellers. I'm posting this here (and I hope it's all right) because I'm certain that anyone who's enjoyed my Cale stories will love the stories of Egil and Nix.
I talk more about the books and the importance of preorders on my blog. I hope you'll have a read. http://paulskemp.com/blog/the-hammer-and-the-blade-available-for-pre-order/ |

Damn :(
I hope the issues can be resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. It'll be sad if we can't read more of your stuff in the realms. |

Mr Kemp, have you got any FR-novels in your "to write" list? I would be so happy if you do.

I don't want to say much more about it, except that I hope we can eventually get things resolved. The only reason I'm mentioning it here is because I get a ton of questions about subsequent books and don't feel like I can play coy forever without doing readers a disservice.
Anyway, here's hoping. Love the Realms and can't wait for all of you to see how The Sundering unfolds. Troy and Ed are on deck! |

That's great news Paul. Will A conversation in Blood be publish around July like the previous books? Also will you be doing an e-signing?
I will be doing an esigning. Pub date is a bit uncertain at the moment because I've got another book coming out in the interim (about which I'm not yet allowed to say anything). I believe (though this is not carved in stone) that CONVERSATION and E&N IV will come out in Trade Paperback, so that'll be nice.
Appreciate the kind words about the Egil and Nix stories, btw (and that's aimed at everyone in this thread). The books have been exceedingly well received and well reviewed in all the usual places, but, you know, you all are my people, so it especially pleases me when Keepers dig them. :-) |

One of the wonderful things about writing (and to be clear, there are MANY wonderful things about it) are those moments of congruence between a writer's intent with characters/story, and a reader's experience with them.
Based on what you wrote above, that seems to have happened in this case, and that's awesome. Thanks, Tamsar.
Paul, you keep writing them and I will keep reading them. The pleasure was all mine! |

I enjoyed this book immensely. More so than the first one which was a hell of a yarn. Safe to assume there will be a third instalment Paul?
Is it OK to discuss the book in this thread?
There's a third at the very least (I'm hoping for more). It'll be titled A CONVERSATION IN BLOOD and will release in June-July next year.
Oh, this is great news. I loved both Egil and Nix books. Now just have to wait a year for the next one. |

I can't help but think that Egil is looking in the wrong place. He doesn't need to look any further than Mere for redemption, I suspect he knows this but isn't ready to admit it to himself yet. How else can you seek redemption if not love? That's my thought anyway. I hope that Mere and Rose's apprenticeship doesn't mean they won't be in the next book, the supporting cast on the book are all stellar, the two sisters, Tesha, Gadd, Mamabird etc.
Both Egil and Nix are damaged and flawed, in similar yet different ways. It's why they are so fiercely devoted to one another and their friends. Pity the slubbers that causes trouble for them or their friends. You know they would take Dur Follin apart brick by brick if need be to protect their friends (Tesha is coming to or has realised this about Nix, despite his self deprecation). I look forward to he next novel with great anticipation.

Posted - 08 Jul 2013 : 13:23:56 Indeed I did enjoy. I've definitely read fantasy novels of equal length where far less happens. Egil and Nix get a lot done in 350 pages, story-wise, and it's never at the expense of painting the setting (in other words, the pace was perfect and felt like I had a solid picture of the world). Same with the hammer & the blade, the ending was great. |

Glad I pre-ordered an actual book, then. It showed up a little soggy as my mailman neglected to shut my mailbox, and it's been wicked rainy here recently. But it's dry now, and the plan is to sit outside the station in my ambulance all night and read it.
I hope you enjoy, Yoss. |

Aw man! First they postpone the book from end of May to end of June, and now they move it to July....
If you mean the Amazon Kindle version, I think that's just a glitch in Amazon's system. As far as I know (and as far as my publisher knows), it'll hit Kindles on June 25th. |
