Posted - 11 Jan 2011 : 22:43:48 Good afternoon! I am searching for the author or title of a book i bought 10+ years ago. I'm almost certain it was in the Forgotten REalms. I thought it was tied to a series called the villains? Although that was not the title. Does this ring a bell? Black cover w/ a white faced, white haired man w/ somewhat scarred face?
Thanks for any help if I'm even remembering correctly? I'm getting old after all!!!

And I'll agree with the others on Lord Soth: awesome villain! I know he wasn't the first death knight in D&D, but he is, to me, the very definition of a death knight. |

that was about Verminaard i think...I never did pick that one up.
There are better novel-sources available for Verminaard anyway. The particular novel being discussed has many consistency problems, and isn't, on the whole, a worthwhile example.
I seem to remember a short story that was quite excellent.
And since were on DL.....what did you think of Dragons of the hourglass Mage?
Sorry, I didn't see this earlier.
Overall, I loved the book. It was the story about Raistlin's transformation that I've been waiting to read since the earliest snippets of his arrival at the Library in The Chronicles.
My only complaint... the book was entirely too short -- especially when compared to the earlier books in the trilogy. |

soth was the only DL villain I ever liked. Verminard was- well, too much like a rat, for my taste. At least that's how I always thought of him. Could be the name, or the fact that he was a total toady to Takhisis(sp?). Hated him.
I too loved soth, he was a really strong character. I even followed him into the Ravenloft novels. |

Raistlin was my first (anti) hero of fantasy, and it was fitting that Weis and Hickman ended their DL run with a novel about him. To my mind he was killed off a little too quickly, so there was limited scope for any new adventures about him. As for the book, I'm biased and love anything about Raistlin. |

Ditto. I got bored with Dragonlance long before that point. |
