Not: I don't think I write English well even if I can understand it as good as anyone. I've learned it from novels by myself(mostly victorian too) and barely spoke it.

My first post here. Hi!

I've been away from Realms for sometime now. I stopped reading shared world novels when I entered university to study economics. Three years after that I got bored of economics and left it for medical school. I was pretty high when I decided to do that and I was still high when I quit the school. I regretted it a bit when I came to my senses but what is done is done. Maybe it was for the better. Now, one year after that, my preparations for medical school is finished at last and I have three months for choosing a school and lessons after that.

Over years I gathered many books to read but when I found time to read them, I found myself rather reluctant to delve into Derrida or Pynchon or the like after such a tiresome year. So, I decided to read some easy novels for the summer. I like Forgotten Realms, I would like to continue from where I left it. That's the list of the books I read last:

Return of the Archmages
Hunter's Blades
War of the Spider Queen
Sellswords

Where should I start reading again?

Thanks. Except for the last two, I read that old books already :) I think The Netheril Trilogy is the greatest thing that ever came out of the WoTC.

The Netheril Trilogy is undeniably a great series that it deserves an omnibus edition. It totally perplexed me that Wizards chose to release "Threat from the Sea" in omnibus first out of the old, non-Drizzt series, instead of the Netheril Trilogy.

Suggestions (ones not yet mentioned above):

Of the old editions:
>The Netheril Trilogy by Clayton Emery(an excellent companion to Return of the Archwizards)
>Counselors and Kings Trilogy by Elaine Cunningham (characters here are kin to those featured in Return of the A. and Netheril T.)
>Elminster Series (books 1 to 5) by Ed G.
>Red Magic by Jean Rabe (featuring some interesting Thayan villains)
>The Simbul's Gift by Lynn Abbey (featuring the formidable witch-queen Alassra)
>Frostfell by Mark S.
>Blackstaff by Steven S.

Of the 4th ed:
>The Haunted Lands Trilogy by Richard Lee Byers, followed by "The Captive Flame" of the same author. The events in the latter followed those in the former, though not totally related.
>Plague of Spells by Bruce Cordell
>The Blackstaff Tower by Steven Schend

----Enjoy reading

I would like to second the suggestion of the Erevis Cale Trilogy. It is truly excellent.

If you want, you can read Shadow's Wittness before that, which is the first novel with Erevis Cale as a character (Sembia series). However you can read the Erevis Cale trilogy without reading it before.

Olove has one of Erik's short stories , maybe he has the other as well? :

Wayfarer

P.S. This can be read before or after Ghostwalker....it does involve characters from that novel.

Myself, I am glad I read Ghostwalker first.

I remember liking that story particularly.

If you read the Erevis Cale Trilogy and enjoy it...

follow up with the Twilight War Trilogy..it also features Cale, but touches on what Shade is up to. I think you will enjoy them.

The Author of those books, Paul S Kemp writes a fine tale and is a big advocate of ebooks....

Twilight Falling is evan available for free as a pdf. I can't remember where Paul posted it(probably his blog) but Olove's library of the realms website has a page of links to it plus a couple of Pauls short stories.

Here is that Link : http://www.o-love.net/realms/sam_cal.html
