Have just started getting back into FR novels. My memory needs a bit of refreshing. Which triology/novel would be the best to start off with?

Yes some of Salvatores earlier works are a good read. I haven't had the chance to read any of his newer stuff... still on the Cleric Quintet series.

Did I enjoy what? Taunting you for acting as though you had stolen a book? If this is what you are refering to,Yes,Immensely.
I am sorry to hear about your Harddrive,I know the feeling.Get back as soon as you can.I may be down for a while myself but due to other things and not my computer.

I knew you didn't mean it but I had to shame you non-the-less.

From where do you purchase your FR novels Lina, if I may ask?.

Well whatever grabs your attention. I find the new spines on the FR novels helps it easier to locate FR books. Especially when u have to grab and run.

Now thats not a nice thing to do.

As were on the subject of novel spines, dont you think that the latest novels, being Twilight Falling and the Rogues series have gone a bit too basic on the spine font ?!

I noticed that but I never asked.

No, all the actual authors names are credited for the new editions. They look pretty nice on the shelf together too

Ahh, I thought so. It seemed strange to me at first that they were releasing all these novels a few months apart from each other cause usually it takes about a year or more to write a novel.

So is my divorce, but I still enjoy reading it.Does wonders for the soul.
The first printings are great for collectors but its cheaper if you go with a second printing.

Yes, everyone is eager to pitch in.

I just finished Waterdeep and swear that I remember the ending to the book before actually reading the last few chapters although the latest publication is 2003. Was there an earlier publication or do I just have telepathy?

I don't think there was anything prior to this but I could be wrong,(Fingers crossed)although it would be the first time I was.
*I think you lived there in other life.*

Plus, I happen to be on a first name basis with two used book sellers. One used to rent our house when my dad was transfered to Hawaii, and now shares retail space with the other. The first one specializes in romance, but has a respectable SF&F section as well. The latter hardly does anything but SF&F and mysteries -- and will sometimes buy just-published books (with a dealer's discount) to sell to customers like myself. I managed to pick up one hardback from her for $16 (US) on September 4th -- three days after the publisher shipped it out. I was a happy Bookwyrm, let me tell you.

First name basis? They call you Book? I fill discriminated against
for being a male. He didn't help me that much, Lina?
No,really I am glad everyone is so willing to help.

I really like the name of this thread...reminds me of Dying hair.
Isn't that right bootworm Bookwyrm.
*Ahem*,yes um Don't worry Lina it just takes time to build a set but
Bookwyrm does have good suggestions.I still think the downloads are
a good way to go if its not a novel.I have found a lot at ABEs as he says, great place, better prices.

Bookwyrmm - With FR novels getting rarer on the bookshelf these days I'll try me best.

Ah, me. No matter what, they can't ever seem to get my name right . . . .

Try used bookshops; that's where I get most of mine at. You can get some really great deals in those places. I've gotten books that look like they were just unpacked in some of the better places. It's a bit of a hunt, as well, which just adds to it for me.

Also, you live in Australia, and as Sage is often complaining about, FR books are harder to get there. Lukily, there are sites like Half.com and The American Book Exchange where you can find some of the things you can't find elsewhere. I've gotten some of mine that way.

Sorry Bookwyrm (got it right that time didnt I) yeah one step ahead of you. When into my first used bookshop yesterday there's others but bit reluctant to travel all over the city to find FR books. I guess it'll come down to that when I get desperate.
William of Waterdeep Posted - 12 Oct 2003 : 05:52:15
Ha,I was born way before you so cheating will not help you get ahead of me.Oh....we weren't talking about age.Its time for my nap..
Oh,yes...he he ,tell me what you need and I will look for them too.
If you want me too.

Jander Sunstar - I'm not too sure what your at there

William - Well since you don't play fair, I guess I'm gonna haveta cheat a bit too. I added more books to my growing library, some not FR. Talked to the owner of the bookshop about FR. He said at one time they printed out a stack of novels and he had so many that he didn't know what to do with them all. Darn guess I miss that good old period.
