Posted - 19 Jan 2010 : 04:57:57 I think this might be one of my favorites in this anthology so far.
First of all, I appreciated the hemming and hawing that Trelwyn did with just about every unexpected development in her plan of revenge. I also thought that Spinnel made an excellent sounding board for her. The switch at the end somehow brightened my day as well.
I did wish that there had a little bit more of Valek's plotting in addition to Bethilde's... and more of the queens plotting as well.
Mod Edit: Sorry Lady Fellshot. Only I can open Book Club scrolls. Thus, I've moved your discussion scrolls here.

Posted - 02 May 2010 : 19:20:46 just read this tale recently and found what happened to the dwarf at the end quite amusing, was just wandering how easy or difficult it would be to change back to your natural gender and race in the realms |

Posted - 21 Jan 2010 : 18:28:40 It was good to see a wood elf Queen gone bad......but it would have been good to see more of her reasons for it....the cuckolding of the king for her to get an heir could have been easily explained to a loyal subject like the owlkeeper as necessary without the Queen having to resort to the murder and cover-up. |

Posted - 19 Jan 2010 : 06:41:29 While the premise and switch was mildly interesting, this one didn't grab me at all. The plot seemed forced and Lisa did not do enough for me to have any sympathy for Spinnel. I actually didn't care if his soul would be destroyed or not. That Bethilde could command such absolute obedience from her followers, and more importantly issue commands contrary to her personal guards' missives, just didn't ring true. Did none stop to think and question her leaving the realm? Again, I have read better work by the author. |
