I've heard some good and I've heard some bad. I love Star elves and am thinking of buying the book. Can I have some Pro's and Con's on this book perhaps?

Thanks,
CEV

Basic plot: The star elves are guarding something big and nastybad. The nastybad wants to break free and may or may not be influencing its captors to accommodate its release.

While, IMHO, the weakest of the four Dungeons novels, it's still a page turner and was definately the best pre-Spellplague novel I had read by Bruce. What I really like is that he re-uses characters from previous novels. It gave his books a sense of continuity and of belonging to a greater whole (the shared Realms all authors write in). And I deliberately used the past tense there, since I have not read any of his post-Spellplague novels (nor am I likely to).

Thanks people. :) What is the plot line of this novel? Civil war? enemies attacking the demi-plane? Coming to Faerun?

Thanks

I really enjoyed this novel, even with its hints toward the coming of the Spellplague and the 4e Realms (of which I refuse to take any part of).

I enjoyed reading it, but it did not feel like a realms novel to me at all. Its much more like Sci-Fi than High Fantasy. I honestly would not reccomend it or discourage it. But honestly, if I knew just a bit more about it when I was picking it up , I would not have bought it.

For me this novel was a not the best but still good enough to read. I enjoyed the back ground history and the insight of the different characters you got by reading about their thoughts.

Bruce R. Cordell is a great author and his books are an easy read.

I'm running against most of the crowd here when I say that I enjoy Cordell's fiction. I like the pseudo-science-fiction elements that often underline much of his fantasy works -- and Stardeep is no exception.

It offers a fascinating look at the environment of Stardeep itself, and all the extra-planar aspects of the site. [Which I freely admit worked to ensure my support of this novel, given how much I love planar-lore]

I won't go into too much about the actual content, because it's not something I'd like to spoil for the reader. However, I will note that if you've enjoyed Darkvision, you'll enjoy the fact that Stardeep works with many of the same characters and themes.
