Free short story at Wizards of the Coast expanding on the tale of the unfortunate children from The Shield of Weeping Ghosts. Check it out and enjoy!

no Dennis, that is just a link to the first page of the story like the original link, it does not take you to page 2 or 3.

Is there a free pdf version online that I can download and read from, or does anyone have a copy?

Thanks!
Try this. It’s the first result that friend Google showed.

the url works fine, it's clicking the "Continue Story" at the bottom that doesn't work. On Firefox it just reloads the same page. Same result in Google Chrome and IE.

Here is page 2: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/20090511&page=2" target="_blank">http://web.archive.org/web/20090602224351/http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/20090511&page=2

still trying to get page 3....

I just clicked the URL and it worked fine. I'm using Google Chrome for my browser.

You may be better off using the Internet Wayback Machine. Plug in that URL and the date of the post...

WotC has a horrible habit of moving their web content around and not updating or redirecting links. I truly believe that not even their web admins know where everything is.

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed! I'll post the link for The Restless Shore's beasties next Monday. Some good stats for new monsters, a bit of lore behind each one, and I believe some artwork by yours truly included.

Best,
--James

(P.S. Did any one catch the bits with Goorgian? Had to include him in there. Oh to tell his full story one day...)

Highly entertaining. I think the Wordsworth poem puts the finishing touches on the dark elements of the story.

I agree with everyone, I am glad WotC is sticking with the trend to include some back story to their books.

Great job James!

I too enjoy these tie-in stories. It is a nice little bonus :)

Nice background James and fascinating times then in Narfell!
I like these FR-politics of adding value to novels by providing short stories with additional background!

That is some great lore James.

I guess that answers the Pre-Spellplague Realmslore rumor that has been going around.

I look forward to some more.
