Who can't wait to run in and grab a copy of Unholy the first week of February? I know I can't. Just finished reading Undead for the second time to refresh my memory and man am I pumped. So pumped that when I went to my very unorganized collection of FR books to pick something to read until it comes out I must have unconsciously grabbed another Richard Lee Byers book(The Rage). Anyways, I'm so excited for this book to come out that I couldn't resist trying to create an early book club. Can't wait to see Aoth and all the others back in action.

I'm glad you liked it, Orn.

I very much enjoyed the conclusion to this series. I was absolutely glued to each novel, including Unholy. It had very interesting characters series of realm shaking events events (which I love).

The 100 year time lapse was well integrated into the plot, and in fact essential to a really great story.

-Got it today. Will read in the near future.

The Sage Posted - 06 Feb 2009 : 22:42:55
Yes, I just need the numbers of chapters and whether the book has a prologue and an epilogue.
The Red Walker Posted - 06 Feb 2009 : 16:21:40
Is this going to make the bookclub Sage?

Just finished it last night, no spoilers, but it was a good book, and I really liked how it turned out. I know alot of people dont want to read post spellplague stuff, but this was a pretty good series and I really enjoyed it.

really wanted to pick this up today, but my local B&N didn't have it in stock...even though they were suppose to. BLAH, hopefully tomorrow!

I very much enjoyed the first 2 novels the this series. It was tense and gripping story, with a constant amount of new and exciting plot developments throughout.

The spell plague hit like a natural disaster, and was well integrated into the plot.

There has certainly been natural disasters in the history of mankind on earth, such as the destruction of the Minoan civilization from the eruption of the volcano Thera. The Greeks had subsequently taken advantage of the destruction and conquered the Minoans... and then conquered themselves by another group of Greeks.

I think it was about time that the realms had to deal a natural disaster of magic, unique to the realms of fantasy. Very exciting.

Honestly, I read Unclean and then really had no interest in the rest of the trilogy. It's not that I don't like Mr. Byer's writing (far from it), but rather I couldn't get into the Thayan politics and the very strange undead that came out of the woodwork.

I too read Unclean and thought it was well-written (as books by Mr. Byers tend to be), but I'm reluctant to read the rest of the series as it is essentially "transitioning" Thay into the 4E version of it (which I don't like). I have the exact same feelings about Thomas M. Reid's current trilogy as well, by the way.

I'm going to give a weird non endorsement endorsement here. I really liked the first two books of the series. I really thought I'd be finishing this one, but I just have no energy to follow anything Realmsian at this point, even though RLB came the closest to making me care about 4E era Realms events.

Just picked up my copy last night at my local Borders ( They always seem to put out the Wizards books about a week before release). The last few pages had the rest of the Wilds and Waterdeep series books listed on it, going through 2010.
