Posted - 18 Jun 2008 : 07:33:01 It may have started out as a myth, Elaine, but it is becoming canonical. Aside from references in the GHotR, the first book of Threat From the Sea includes a scene in a sunken city off the current Sword Coast which I, at least, understood to have been drowned by the elves. Given the thoroughly canonical fate of Jhamdaath, I don't see why elf-friends try to whitewash the Elven High Mages -- they are a vicious lot!

FYI, this was intended to be a Creation Myth. There are a bunch of myths, hero tales, and other sorts of elven lore in EVERMEET that, like the myths of any race on any world, may or may not be entirely factual.

Posted - 06 Jun 2008 : 12:02:11 Ohhhh ... fiction ... right ... okay ... I'm going back to Bob, in that case. No, wait. I nominate two others, instead:
Sunlord Daelegoth Orndeir, who created a second sun, and Vhostym, who (SPOILER!) ripped a Tear of Selune from its path and brought it to Toril, both of whom monkeyed around with the entire planet.
Historically, though, pride of place (or just overweening pride!) must go to the Elven High Mages who, first, ripped apart the land and shifted the seas, killing millions of people and billions of plants, just to create one lousy island where they could vacation and on which they could retire -- a sort of Elven Boca Raton -- and who, second, destroyed the entire Empire of Jhamdaath (and all of the plant life in it) because they wanted to protect their forest from loggers and were too damned wimpy to fight for it or negotiate a successful solution.
As Dart Ambermoon observed, it depends on which aspect of evil you prefer to dwell. As cold-blooded murderers, the Elves win hands down, trumping any "monsters." As reckless endangerers of the entire planet and all who dwell on it, in it, or over it, Daelegoth and Vhostym are the champs, although there may have been others of their caliber in the past.

He sure looks evil.
Anyhow, I'd stick to 'fictional' characters myself. |

Posted - 25 May 2008 : 22:55:05 Depends on which point of evil you wish to emphasize. The sheer uncaring willingness to sacrifce anything and everything for oneŽs goals or actually enjoying the suffering of others. In the first case my vote would go to either Szass Tam or about any member of the Twisted Rune. In the second case...hmm...on first impulse IŽd go with either Cassana of Westgate or half of the nobility of Cormyr or Waterdeep*g*. |
