Hail!

I'm the admin of http://www.nwvisuals.com/ and I am trying to figure out how to get permission to post full-text prelude or chapter 1 of Forgotten Realms novels on my website where I'll provide visuals to the published segment (look at the website for examples).

I think it would be a great promotional tool, but I'm not sure where to seek such permission. The Wizards of the Coast website makes it perfectly clear it doesn't accept submissions.

Let me have your feedback

Thanks, maybe I'll ask in their forums. Although the one one legal-department E-mail I found says "Only use this email address to report potential copyright infringement claims. All other email messages will be deleted without response." Haha. What a dead end.

NWN2, Karzak? Never heard of it.

I've no idea how I'm supposed to pursue such permission. Do you?

I'd say Wooly's advice is definitely something you should take into consideration for this.

The most improtant aspect of this plan, I think, is for you to just contact WotC legal department and have a chat with them about what the Clause 8 section specifically covers and what loopholes, if any, exist that could trap you later.

I fail to see how this pertains to the topic at hand.

Because Horatio is using NWN screenshots for these "visuals" and said this?

Of course, it could just pertain to the whole iffy legality, but eh. The models are hideous.

That clause looks more like it pertains to posting material on their site, as opposed to the sites of others.

You're going to have to dig around, I guess, and see if you can contact someone in their legal department. It may take some effort to find someone to contact... And I fear it will likely not do you any good. But you can at least try.

Unfortunately, Wizards of the Coast is the only one that can give you such permission.
