Posted - 19 Feb 2008 : 21:39:06 I have been looking for the last volume in the Avatar series, Crucible: The Trial of Cyric the Mad. However, I'm unable to find it for a reasonable price - on Amazon there are several listings from sellers, but the lowest is used £24, and the highest is like new for as much as around £160!
Trying to order the book from Waterstones (the website claims to have it in stock) has failed, I recieved an email saying they had none in stock and didn't know when they would have any, a week or two after ordering.
Ebay is also void of any copies. The book itself is listed normally on the Wizards website also.
Searching the internet I have been unable to find anything stating this specifically - but from the prices on Amazon, am I right in thinking that it is simply a rare, out of print book?
Do I have no choice but to pay the premium prices on Amazon if I want a hope of reading the final chapter in the series?
Thanks to anyone who can tell me anything on the topic in advance.
(Note: I tried searching this forum already with no result, if there is already an answer to all of this here, I apologise.) |

Posted - 14 Mar 2008 : 19:39:55 I understand your trouble. I just finished the original trilogy and the Prince of Lies (book 4) but I'm having a hard time finding a reasonably priced: Crucible: The Trial of Cyric the Mad (book 5). I have been looking on line and at some local second hand booksellers. Sort of frustrating since Borders is carrying the Prince of Lies. |

Just wants to point out also that nobleknight.com has a bunch of the old novels for about 4 to 5 bucks and they do ship international.
Do they also carry out of print game products and adventures??
Yes.
What she said. :) |

Posted - 20 Feb 2008 : 15:45:19 Oh just checked it....the Bloodstone Quartet sold separately for steep prices just like everywhere else. Lots of good stuff there though.
Oh and on topic, Crucible is a good read IMO and s'too bad it is the final chapter (or is it????) "dum de dum" |

Posted - 20 Feb 2008 : 12:22:08 E-bay is probably your best bet. That is where I got a lot of my novels 9and out of print game products, of which I am nearly complete in collecting (thank god says my wallet) |

Posted - 19 Feb 2008 : 22:31:37 Frak me...that is expensive, and the cheapest I could find was on ebay, for 12$ or so.
Try some British RPG-stores, and if all else fails check in continental European stores. |

Posted - 19 Feb 2008 : 22:02:23 Well, just to clarify, I live in the UK - As far as I know, all Wizards products have to be imported here, they don't print them here - Though I suppose they probably have to be imported to Canada, too.
As for the series in general, I managed to find the first four books new at a regular price with no trouble at all - This last one is the only problem. Considering the abundance of the first four books amoung online sellers, and the relatively few copies of crucible at a surprisingly high price makes me wonder why. |

Posted - 19 Feb 2008 : 21:54:03 It shouldn't be too hard to find a copy...
I live in Canada and I still see the Avatar series in bookstores. Considering that the whole Avatar series had like a re-print a few years ago with new covers, I'm sure they're still around. |
