Oddly, I couldn't locate an existing scroll on this tome, i'm sure there's one around here somewhere 
Anyway, news in from Steven Schend regarding his Blackstaff Tower novel due in September this year...

I recall Steven suggesting that it would probably be a good idea, but that he also provided enough tidbits in the Blackstaff Tower novel to ensure readers will understand what's going on. |

Is the reading of Blackstaff required before reading Blackstaff Tower ? I do not think so but I'd like to be sure.

Interesting... So can you say yet whether or not your novel involves Ahghairon's Tower? I'd love to see some lore on that tower. Ditto for Maaril's pad. |

A tower or two? Ooh, I've been wondering how Ahghairon's Tower (and its trapped skeleton) fared during the Sellplague. It would be nice to learn more about that Tower, too.
The skeleton was freed around 1400 DR and it was performing 3 shows a night at Mother Tathlorn's in its all-undead singing and dancing revue.

Okay, am I the only person who hopes that the tarrasque is one creature that does NOT survive into the new edition? Call me crazy, but they've always been a silly, unbalanced monster designed solely for Total Party Kills (a common thing in 1E era dungeons due to anything from green slimes to a propensity for save-or-die poisons).

I'm curious what has happened to the Harper's Holdfast given the failure of magic, and the sleeping Terrasque (Tarasajok) given the long sleep from the last beating it took. |

I'm actually intrigued by the "fill some backstories" bit as well. As far as I understood the transition to 4e, we were told not to expect much in the way of detailing the intervening time between 1375 DR and 1479 DR. At least Blackstaff Tower will deal with this somewhat.

Neat. So it is a "sequel" [or continuation perhaps?] of sorts, but with nearly a hundred years separating the first and second books.
I can't wait!
Just don't expect the tale to get bogged down with too much history--the lore that's in there is what was essential for telling the story in the present day. Thus, you find out who's been a Blackstaff since Khelben, find out some interesting things about a tower or two in the city, and..er, I may have already said too much. <sneaks off, whipping his Cloak of NDA around his wind-whipped shoulders>
