I was thinking about getting some used old supplements with some Xmas cash. Sio I was wondering which do you like and why? Here's whats on the menu: Bloodstone Lands, Old Empires, Dwarves Deep, The Great Glacier, Gold & Glory, Kara Tur, Empire of the Shining Seas, land of fate.

Most of the good sources have been supported. I'll throw double support behind Steven Schend's Empires of the Shining Sea though . . . I can't stop reading about the Shoon!

Out of all of those the only ones I have are Dwarves Deep and Empires of The Shining Sea. And I have enjoyed both of them immensely. Dwarves Deep has the best information on Dwarves, which is kind of sad considering it's age. Empires has all you need to know about Shoon, and a bit about the Twisted Rune as well.  |

Ebay can be evil if you're not careful. On the other other hand I do have a lot of neat stuff And I give my nod to Dwarves Deep. |

I would say that Anauroch and Dwarven Deep are among the best realms products you can get. Empire of the Shining Sea is great as well. viewed on their own the Lands of Fate and Kara Tur sets (especially the first one ) are great, but their placing in the realms will always be somewhat questionable.
Gold and glory is OK, but nothing more and the Great Glacier is in my opinion the worst regional supplement published for the older ed. This is purely subjective of course.
As I don't own Old Empires and Bloodstone Lands I can not give any advise on these. |

Simple answer, Yes, get them. many older sourcebooks are available for free and many, many others for a nominal fee at places like piazzo.com.

I'll say yes for Anauroch. 'Tis a worthy resource and has some solid connections to established Realmslore.

I like Anauroch. GG is just to.... Earth-like for my tastes. Old Empires is dated but it has some interesting info. |

Regardless of their realmslorianness, are old empires and great glacier any good. I imagine Old Empies must be fairly outdated. Plus, what about Anauroch? I forgot that one. any good? |

Definitely Ed's Dwarves Deep, since we have so little specific lore on the dwarves of the Realms. And, again, definitely Steven's Empires of the Shining Sea, since it provides in-depth lore on not only Calimshan, but its surrounding environs. And also for the lore about the Shoon Imperium.
Bloodstone Lands would fall in-between a first and second choice, and only if I had the gold pieces to spare. That's because, while I'm still waiting for some in-depth updated material on the region, 3e has managed to provide us with some rather interesting tidbits for the region, which updates most of the old material.
Old Empires I'd place as a second choice, mostly because of its lack of true Realmslore. As I would with The Great Glacier as well.
Kara-Tur and Lands of Fate would come third simply because I don't have much love for the 2e "add-ons".
Gold & Glory is another I'd purchase only if I had the gold pieces to spare. While it is a useful resource, especially the lore on the various merc companies, I usually tend to follow my own system for merc unit creation and operation in the Realms. |

Dwarves Deep, Old Empires, and Empire of the Shining Seas, I'd say yes to.
Bloodstone, Land of Fate, and Gold & Glory would be second choice.
Great Glacier and Kara-Tur, not so much. :) |
