For the region, the Knowledge (local, Dambrath) 3 is enough ?
What is it the official sanction of the nobility od Dambrath ?
Thanks for your future help. |

Posted - 18 Apr 2006 : 13:43:33 The Crinti Marauder is very much a racially bound PrC, much more so than the Shadowlord of Telflamm. Depending how you define a "Crinti" in racial-game terms, you could have had something like:
Prerequisites: Race: Half-Drow or Drow
I guess that it was left a bit more open to justify that a native of Dambrath that is in good terms with the matrons and the Crinti could be co-opted in the club. But seeing the Crinti's obsession with bloodlines and "racial purity" (excuse the dirty words), I would not allow it for a character that is not at least native of Dambrath. So being from outside Dambrath and having learned about the local culture through your skills would not be enough.
At least, that's how I would do it in my game. ;-)

Posted - 11 Apr 2006 : 20:43:18 In 3.0 you could take regional feats from another region by putting 2 skill points into knowledge local for that region. You could also take regional feats after 1st lvl. When the PGtF came out, they redefined regional feats as something you can only take at 1st lvl and only for the given region you are actually from.

No, it hasn't got anything to do with any skill. When you create a Forgotten Realms character with 3rd edition rules you pick a region that the character comes from. To become a Crinti Shadow Marauder, you need to be from the region called Dambrath.
The current list of regions can be found in Player's Guide to Faerūn - with a few added in Shining South.
It actually did have something to do with skills. Although it's split up amongst a few pages in the FRCS, there was a 3.0 rule that characters could gain the ability to be of a certain region for prestige classes and regional feats if they had a certain number of ranks in the local version of Knowledge(local). This was dumped in 3.5, due to the much stronger regional feats (mainly; it was also fairly obscure) --- now, your region is your region, and that's it. That was the difference --- a Telflammar shadowlord could be from Telflamm, or have the right amount of Knowledge(local) ranks to have regional focus for that region under 3.0. Under 3.5, that skill-based bit should be dropped.
Anyway. Sleep. And destressing. And gaaaaaaaaaaaah.
EDIT: And I completely missed Wooly's post. |

For example, the Telflamm Shadowlord has as requirement : special : The character must qualify to select regional feats from Thesk (the region is home region, or he has 2 ranks in Knowledge [local _ Thesk])
So, have 2 ranks in Knowledge [local, Dambrath], do it permit to obtain the crinti shadow marauder or not ?
I'd say not. If they specify in one tome that merely qualifying to take feats in an area is sufficient for a PrC, then it stands to reason they would have done so for another PrC, if it was appropriate.
Besides, look at the two PrCs we're talking about -- one is just a kind of thief. The other is a product of a culture. Of course the latter would require you to be from that culture. |

Posted - 11 Apr 2006 : 15:09:25 It means that you need to have chosen Dambrath as your character-region - see the Forgotten Relams Campaign Setting and Player's Guide to Faerūn for the rules on Regions.
The official sanction of the nobility of Dambrath mean that you need to have a member of the country's nobility vouch for you, if you want someone to teach you the tricks of the Crinti Shadow Marauders. |
